Abstract
A door loaf 1 is formed by inserting partition board 12 into the groove (11, figure 1) of hollow frame 14. A decorative effect is achieved in which the surfaces have gravels glued thereon to form various unique patterns. The gravels are glued onto the door leaf surfaces by using a synthetic gluing material which comprises hardening agent, resin, fire retarding agent, balm, etc. and is formulated and prepared under controlled temperature and high pressure. The synthetic gluing material is transparent, sticky, and viscous and will not cover or change the colour or size of gravels mixed therein. After the gluing material and the gravels mixed therein are poured onto a partition board of the door leaf, they shall dry and set thereon in the air naturally and thereby firmly glued to the door leaf. Such door leaf provides beautiful and unique surface pattern, and better waterproof and fireproof abilities. <IMAGE>
Description
A DOOR LEAF
Following the increasing upgrading of living standards and quality requirements, people make great efforts to give their living and working environments an overall beautiful appearance, security, and practical usage. A door, especially the door leaf or leaves thereof, due to its prominent position at an entrance of a house or an office, usually requires a special design to show the unique and distinct character or style of the house or office.
Presently, most of the commercially available doors are generally made of wood, stainless steel sheet, steel sheet, etc. with different patterns formed on the surface of door leaves by means of pressing, mechanically carving, rolling, etc. All of these products provide the basic door functions but they generally have the following common disadvantages:
1. Inferior fireproof ability: Wooden doors are easily burned in the event of fire.
2. Apt to deformation and/or deterioration:
Wooden doors are apt to defonnation and bending, and therefore, have inferior fitting and smoothness in the closing and opening of the door if water is used to wash the doors. And, a steel door is apt to rapid rust if water is used to wash it.
3. Higher cost: A stainless steel door gives better water-proof and fireproof abilities than a wooden or a steel door. It also, however, requires higher costs due to the stainless steel material, expensive fabrication and pattern forming by rolling or stamping.
4. Limited variability in appearance: Most of the wooden and stainless steel or steel doors are conventionally machined and mechanically carved or stamped or pressed to form solid or plane patterns without special changes.
It is therefore an object of the invention to develop a door leaf which enhances the door functions while giving better water-proof, fireproof, and easy-cleaning characteristics than conventional doors.
The door leaf of the present invention has surfaces onto which irregular gravels mixed in and cemented by transparent gluing material are glued to form various unlimited, unique, and three-dimensional patterns. Such patterns may also be varied in design to match special interior decoration or other surface materials used in the same house or to harmonise with surrounding environment by changing the size or colour of gravels or giving the gravels special arrangement, such as a beautiful landscape, characters, geometrical shapes, etc.
There will now be described by way of example a preferred embodiment of the present invention with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is an analytical perspective of a door leaf according to the present invention;
Figure 2 is a three-dimensional, enlarged, fragmentary, sectional view of the door leaf of the present invention;
Figure 3 illustrates an embodiment of the present invention.
Referring first to Figures 1 and 2, the present invention mainly consists of a frame 1, synthetic gluing material 2 and gravels 3.
The frame 1 is made of four substantially retangular or square stainless steel sections each of which has an insetting groove 11 formed at a side inwardly facing the frame 1. A partition board 12 is insertable into the grooves 11 to fill the space enclosed by the four stainless steel sections to be used as a base for the gravels 3 or other decorative means mixed with and cemented to the board 12 by the synthetic gluing material 2. Before inserting the partition board 12 into the section grooves 11, one of the sections, section 13 in this case, is firstly detached from the frame 1 so that the frame 1 has an open side defined by two adjoining sections 14 and 15.After inserting the partition board 12 into the grooves 11 on the remaining three sections, replace the previously detached section 13 with its two bevelled ends welded to the two bevelled ends of the two adjoining sections 14, 15. After the frame 1 and the partition board 12 are assembled, gravels 3 mixed in gluing material are dumped onto the partition board 12.
The synthetic gluing material 2 comprises a hardening agent (5%), resin (5%), fire retarding agent, balm, etc. which are formulated and prepared under controlled temperature and high pressure. The resulting product is a transparent, sticky, and viscous liquid which will not cover or change the original colour and/or shape of the gravels 3 mixed therein afterwards.
Before the gravels 3 are dumped onto the partition board 12, they are evenly mixed in the synthetic gluing material 2. After the gravel-mixed gluing material 2 is poured onto the partition board 12 to fill entire space enclosed by the frame 1, wait until the synthetic gluing material dry and set in the air naturally. At that point, a door leaf according to the present invention is formed.
Unique patterns, such as a landscape, a geometrical design, etc. can be obtained, too, by particularly arranging or paving the gravels 3 on the partition board 12 before the gluing material 2 is poured and set.
The door leaf according to the present invention provides better fireproof (it has a refractoriness as high as 14000C) and waterproof abilities, and is easy to clean.
Claims (4)
1. A door leaf comprising a frame, a partition board, and decoration means, said frame being formed by four hollow sections which define an open plane within said frame, said four sections each having a groove formed in a side of the section inwardly facing said defined open plane, said partition board being insertable into said grooves, said decoration means being mixed with an adhesive before being placed onto the surface of said partition board, such that when the adhesive has set the decoration means are affixed to said partition board framed in said frame to form a door leaf.
2. A door leaf as claimed in claim 1 in which the adhesive is a synthetic adhesive which is settable on exposure to the air.
3. A door leaf as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 in which the decorative means comprise a mix of gravels.
4. A door leaf as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawings.
