Abstract

A valve assembly for use in gas hobs comprises a body (1) and a cap (2) which define between them a chamber (12) to accommodate a shaft (21). The shaft has radial projections (22, 24) at each end, one of which cooperates with the lower end of a push rod (7) and the other of which cooperates with a valve closure member (14, fig 3). The shaft is supported at either end by bearing surfaces (20) (see Fig 4 not shown) on the cap. The closure member is initially opened by depressing the push rod, which causes the shaft to rotate. The closure member is then held open by an electromagnet responsive to a signal from a thermocouple in the gas flame, which is arranged to close the valve if the gas supply fails. The amount of gas flowing through the assembly is varied by rotating the rod 7 to drive a conical rotary plug valve member (6, fig 1). <IMAGE>

Description

CONTROL VALVE WITH SECURITY MAGNETIC ASSEMBLAGE FOR GAS KITCHENS SPECIFICATION OBJECT OF THE INVENTION The invention refers to a valve applicable fundamentally to a extra flat tops of gas kitchens, in which the control key of the valve is place over the own flat top.
The valve as said not only has the finality of controlling the volume of gas to the gas burners, but also to offer a working security, based on the magnetic assemblage that embody, by which is possible to maintain in the open position the obturator, eliminating the manual pressure that is necessary to suministrate to the control key until the correspondent thermocouple reaches the needed temperature to move the electromagnetic spark colin of the security assemblage.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION In the Spanish utility model 291.833, of the same applicant, it is claim a control valve with a security magnetic assemblage for extra flat tops of gas kitchens, structured in a manner that it can be place easily in the small space abailable in the kitchens with extra flat tops.
There is no doubt that herewith before of the appliction of the Spanish utility model 291.833 it was a knowledge of valves provide with security magnetic assemblages, based on a obturator establish in the gas exit pipe , that tends to the close position by defect of a resort, being able to be open it manually by means of a axil push suministrated to the control key of gas volume, maintaining that open situation by means of a electromagnet which move produce in base of the current generated by a thermocouple and respect of it's own gain temperature of that thermocouple, being found close to the gas burner.
This type of valves, as as said before, offers the security that in case of a eventual turn off of the gas burner, that logically escape notice to the user, the cooling of the correspondent thermocouple carry with it the disconnection of the electromagnet and so the pass of the obturator to it's normal close position, avoiding the risk that means the accumulation of gas in the enviroment.
Such characteristics in the conventional valves are possible in base a considerable length of the unit, this is what makes totally impossible it's application on extra flat tops, in which the controls of the cocks correspondent to the different gas burners have to be place over the surface of the top.
Then, the claim structure in the cited utility model 291.833 has the finality; and so it is obtain, to resolve that problem, base in a structure form by two joint bodies, one in which the cock is establish and other in which the magnetic assemblage is place, being both communicated and related between each other to allow the correct flow of gas, the obturation when so needed, and the activation and desactivation of the magnetic assemblage.
The performance of the obturator was based in this Spanish utility model 291.833, in a balance-beam form by a shaft, on which goes a piece with two crank arms determing oposite spaces and perpendicular between each other, and a spring that tends to maintain towards a non operative possition to the metion balance-beam.
It is unquestionable that being that piece or balance-beam one of the principal parts of the valve, that is form by various peices, and that includes a turn crank for the part that two levers or elbowed arms are conform, requires not only accuracy in the fabrication process, but also in the assembly and disposition of its elements.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION.
The valve that is to praise is based on the functionality principle and the structural characteristics that define the claimed in the Spanish utility model metion before, even with a number of innovations in order that the valve in it's assemblage results more compact and functional.
In this sense, one of the improvements consist on that the two parts that constitute the valve assemblage, instead of been two joint parts, there are two parts overlap, what makes the assemblage of the body more compact and at the same time more functional.
Moreover, it has being forecast in the valve of the invention that the balance-beam is constituted by a one piece body that constitutes a kind of cilindric shaft with two perturberances, one capable to recieve the push of the side correspondent to the performance rod, and the other forecast to actuate over the obturator of entrance.
Another innovation that the valve of the invention presents, consist of that the entrance of gas is done directly to the assemblage, for later flow to the part constituted by the cock, while in the valve mention before correspondent to the Spanish utility method 291.833 the gas went directly to the cock area and after to the assemblage.
Of a more concrete form and structurally, the valve is constitute from a body in which the manual performance rod works, in vertical disposition, to which the correspondent control key is associated, constituating such rod the performance shaf for the classical regulating cone of gas flow, being this rod moveable axially contrary to the tightness of a spring, that is also conventional.
The hole in which the mentioned rod works comes to a lower chamber that establish the joint of the second piece, fix to the lower part of the body mentioned before, and of which second piece works as a cover and like a emplacement for the correspondent balance-beam, presenting this a cylindric configuration with it's sides properly place in the spaces provided for it in the chamber conform in this cap, everything in such a way that one of the prolongations of the mentioned balance-beam is in vertical possition and infront of the side of the performance rod, so when works over this in vertical sense, the tilting of the balance-beam is produced and that with it's other prolongation or opposite lever will act over the obturator forecast for that in the entrance of the emplacement chamber of the magnetic assemblage, forbibing the flow of gas in the non operating position, while that when the rod is turn on by it's correspondent swicth, the. mentioned balance-beam in it!s tilting acts over that obturator producing the opening and cosequently the flow of gas towards the correspondent exit pipe.
The mentioned obturator is joint of the correspondent movable nucleus of the electromagnetic coil from the security magnetic assemblage.
The obturator is also required by a spring to a close position, while the balance-beam is required equally towards a non operative position, because of this it will only work when is push by the manual performance rod,and the obturator will open pass when is operated by the mentioned balance-beam or when the coil of the magnetic assemblage is disconnect.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS To complete the description that is being done and with the purpose of helping of a better comprehension of the characteristics of the invention, is enclose with the present descriptive specification, as a integral part of the same, a set of drawings where with ilustrative purpose and not limited, it has been represented the following: Figure 1 .-Is a section view by a vertical plane of the assemblage of the valve object of the invention.
Figure 2 .-Is a elevation side view of the same valve, from a piont of view of 90Q degrees with respect to the prior figure, in which is possible to see the sectioned part correspondent of the piece that acts as a cap, allowing the sight of the situation of the correspondent balance-beam.
Figure 3.- Is a view from above of the same valve, with the situation of. the magnetic assemblage sectioned, allowing to see part of the assemblage dnd of the obturator joint to the moveable coil nucleus.
Figure 4.- Is a plant view of the piece that acts as a cap.
Figure 5.- Is a longitudinal section of the represented piece in the prior figure, and which section correspondent to the plane represented by the section line A-B of the prior figure.
The figures 6, 7 and 8 .- Are other views correspondent to the body constitutive of the balance-beam.
PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION At sight of those figures can be notice how the valve that is praise is constituted by the coupling between each other of a principal body (1) and other body (2) acting as a cap. The body (1) has a hole (3) for gas entrance, escort by a falnge with holes for the brace or assembling of the set. In the oposite to the hole (3) there is another hole (5) for exit, while vertically embody is the correspondent cone (6) that is turn on by a rod (7) that appears to the outside to recive the correspondent manual control key, rod that goes across of the hollow interior of the cone (6), properly tight with the help of a toric joint (8),being moveable axilly with the help of a spring (9) that leans on a washer (10) overlap to the elastic joint (8).
The pass or hole (11) of placement of the cone (6) comes to a chamber (12) establish in bottom body or cap (2), being this chamber communicated with a pipe (13) in which a correspondent obturator is place (14), so that pipe (13) is communicated with the pipe (3) of entrance by the bend pipe (15), that comes in the chamber (16) in which the magnetic assemblage is mounted (17) with it's rod joint to the obturator (14) required by this spring (18).This magnetic assemblage (17) is mounted on a tubular prolongation (19) from the body (1), as it is shown clearly in figure 3a In the chamber (12) of the cap (2) there are adjusted with either concave supports (20) for the sides of the correspondent balance-beam (21), being this formed by a cylindric body, like it was represented in figures 6, 7 and 8, that in the closeness to one of it's sides presents a radial side prolongation (22) with one part lightly convex bend (23) for the support of the side of the correspondent performance rod (7), while that in the oposite side of this body (21) of the balance-beam there is another prolongation (24) that forms the elbowed arm, in a perpendicular plane to the arm (22), leaving the elbowed side facing the obturator (14), in it's place in the chamber (12) of the cap (2), as is represented in figure 2a. This balance-beam (21) will be complemented by a spring that tends to maintain it to a non operative position.
In pursuance of the structuration described, the working of the valve is the following.
The gas come in by the entrance (3) establish in the body (1), when the obturator cone allows it (6),coming in directly, through the oblique pipe (15) to the chamber (16) in which is establish the magnetic assemblage (19), forbiding the obturator the flow of that gas.
But, if we act with the control key, pushing the rod (7), the vertical movement of it will act over the side (23) of the arm or side prolongation (22) correspondent to the balance-beam (21), in such a way that the correspondent push carries on the tilting of the body (21) of the balance-beam, so the elbowed side (24) of the oposite arm will attack over the obturator (14), moving this against the spring (18), carry out the opening of the pass (13) and allowing the communication of the oblique pipe (15) With the Chamber (12) of the cap (2), so the gas flows through the hole or pass (11) in direct communication with exit (5), from which the gas will reach the correspondent gas burners. When the thermocuople reaches it's working temperature and provokes the excitation of the coil (17) of the magnetic assemblage, such coil will maintain hold the obturator (14) in the open position, so the manual press over the rod (7) can be leave off, through the correspondent control maintainig the kitchen gas burner in the operative position.
In case of a casual gas stop, the thermocouple will stop feeding the coil (17), this coil will set free the moveable assemblage and the spring (18) will push the obturator (14) against it's own foundation, causing the interruption of the flow of gas and consequently the interruption of the gas flow to the gas burner.
It is consider that is not necesary to make this description more extensive for any expert comprehension of the achievements of the invention and the advantages that can be derivated from it.
The materials, shape, size and layout of the elements may be altered provided that this entails no modification of the essential features of the invention.
The terms used to describe the invention here in should be taken to have a broad rather than restrictive meaning.
