Abstract

A card (10), which may be of any shape eg rectangular, round or triangular and may be made of cardboard or plastics, carries an image (11) of any desired form and is placed on the instrument cover so that an image of the card is seen in the windscreen to give an indication of the safe distance from the vehicle ahead. The position of the image is easily adjusted simply by moving the card to take account of varying conditions, eg speed or weather. <IMAGE>

Description

REFLECTED RELATIVE DISTANCE INDICATOR (R.D.I) This invention crcates a device to indicate a safe driving distance from a vchicle in front.
For some tims there has ben a need for a device that would rffactrvalv achieve safe seperation of vehicles an cotarways to avoid cosily - sometimes fatal - rearmend actidents and zulitple pile-ups.
Tbe R.D.I. will creete a visual referance point on a vehicle windscrean which wlli indicate when veur vehicle is travaling toc clane to the lead vehicle in fornt.
The accompenying drawings shows examples of the form and the R.D.I. can be produced.
The indicator card 10 will be of cardboad or plastic mat with a matt white finish on the front, which when placed instplument cover of a vehicle will reflect an image onto whdscreen.
The Mages 11 on the R.D.I card can of coarme be any shape eg.
car leage, name or company logo to suit individual preference.
Also the R.D.I card listelf can be of varying size and shape eg.
oblong or round as shown, or it could be trianglar, square or indeed any shane.
The R.D.I is eimply a means of reflecting an image onte a vehicle windscreen that is used as a relative point of reference.
The images on the R.D.I. card can also be of a different colour, other than black as shown.

Claims (1)

  1. By moving the position of the R.D.I card up or down the instrument cover the reflection can be adjusted to indicate relative distance from a lead vehicle in front.
The R.D.I., thus correctly positione will give visual safe distance indication, which can be easily re-adiustad to take account of wmrying apeeds and/or westher conditions, by means of a simmle. VELCRT (RTM) mating ztrip, method of fixing.
The R.D.I image being a reflection, will allow drivers to @mes through' the indicator, thus avolding any unwanted rastriction of vision.
the R.D.I. device dan be easily fitted in minutes by the motorist at very low cost.
