Abstract

A leaf (1) of a hinge is welded to a skin (5, Fig. 1, not shown) of a door on three sides by a seam weld (6). The remaining side, spaced from and parallel with the axis of the hinge, is provided in the face of the leaf at the interface between the leaf and the skin with recess (10, Fig. 1, not shown) filled with a sealant compound through an externally accessible filling aperture. This forms a barrier (12) across the unwelded part of the hinge to prevent the ingress of moisture into the said interface. <IMAGE>
