Abstract

A booklet 11 for logging photographs includes pages 12, and a writing implement 17. Each page has a plurality of self-adhesive labels 18. Details of succeeding photographs are written, at the time of taking the photographs, on succeeding labels. After printing of the photographs the labels are removed from the page one at a time, and attached to or in the vicinity of an associated photograph. The labels are consecutively numbered to avoid incorrect allocation of the labels and the photographs, and the writing implement is housed in a sleeve 16 in the booklet, to allow easy portability of the entire unit. <IMAGE>

Description

PHOTOGRAPH LOGGING DEVICE AND METHOD The present invention relates to a photograph logging device and a method of logging information concerning a series of photographs.

It is known that after photographs have been taken, printed, and, for example, mounted in an album, it is convenient to write information concerning the photographs on labels, and to attach those labels to the photographs, or in the vicinity of the photographs. It is also known to write information concerning a photograph which has been taken, at the time of taking the photograph, on a label, and then to store the label for use later when the photograph has been developed and printed.

However there has not been made available a convenient, portable, logging device which allows information concerning photographs to be conveniently recorded at the time the photographs are taken, and then to associate the right label with the right photograph at a later date, after the photographs have been printed. It is one object of the present invention to provide such a logging device, and method of logging information, which is more convenient and more reliably than has previously been made available.

According to the present invention there is provided a photograph logging device comprising a booklet having a plurality of pages carrying labels, and a writing implement for recording on the labels details of photographs at the time the photographs are taken, in which each page bears a plurality of labels arranged to allow information relating to a series of photographs to be recorded on a series of labels, and in which the booklet has a storage means for storing the writing implement to allow the writing implement to be carried with the booklet.

In one convenient arrangement the storage means comprises a sleeve into which the implement can be slidably engaged. Preferably the booklet is formed with a cover hinged to open at the top of the booklet. In one particularly preferred form, the sleeve extends across the top of the booklet in the region of the hinge.

Conveniently the sleeve is formed by the cover being folded over at the region of the hinge.

In a preferred arragement, the labels are elongate across each page and are arranged in a series running down each page of the booklet. Also preferably the labels are numbered in sequence with an indicating number on each label. It is particularly preferred that the labels are self-adhesive.

Where features of the invention have been set out with regard to a photographic logging device, these features may also be provided in accordance with a method of logging information concerning a series of photographs, and vice versa. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, there may be provided a method of logging information concerning a series of photographs, comprising: writing details of each succeeding photograph, at the time of taking the photograph, on succeeding labels on a page of labels; after printing of the photographs, removing from the page of labels succeeding labels; and attaching each label to, or in the vicinity of, its associated photograph.

In one preferred form, the method includes writing details of photographs taken in a consecutive order on the series of labels on the page in the same consecutive order, and then, after printing of the photographs, removing the labels from the page in the same consecutive order and attaching the labels to or in the vicinity of the associated photographs, in the same consecutive order.

Embodiments of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is a diagrammatic view of the top of a photograph logging device embodying the invention; Figure la is a diagrammatic side view of the device shown in Figure 1; and Figure 2 is a diagrammatic plan view of one page of the photograph logging device shown in Figure 1.

With reference to Figures 1 and la, a photograph logging device 10 comprises a booklet 11 having a plurality of pages 12 (see Figure 2) secured inside a cover 13.

The booklet is formed by the cover 13 being folded over at a top end 14, and being stitched along a line 15, the stitching being carried through the pages 12. Where the cover 13 is folded over, a sleeve 16 is formed and in this sleeve 16 is slidably engaged a writing implement such as a ballpoint pen 17.

Referring to Figure 2, a single page 12 of the booklet carries a plurality of self-adhesive labels 18, there being shown six such labels on the page 12 in Figure 2. Each label is secured by a releasable contact adhesive, such that any individual lable may be peeled off from the backing page 12, and then may be attached to a photograph, or in the vicinity of a photograph. Each label 18 is numbered by a consecutive indicating number 1, 2, 3, and so on down the page. Succeeding pages in the booklet are then numbered with succeeding indicating numbers, for example 7, 8, 9, 10 and so on.

Conveniently each booklet consists of four or six pages, each page having six detachable self-adhesive labels. The four page booklet would be used with a film of 24 exposures, and the six page booklet would be used with a film of 36 exposures.

The method of use of the booklet is as follows. As each photograph is taken, the required details are entered on to a numbered label, the labels being used in a numbered sequence corresponding to the sequence in which the photographs are taken. When the film has been fully used, the log is kept intact until the film has been developed.

On receiving the developed and printed photographs, the labels are detached from the booklet one at a time and are affixed to the back of the photographs, or placed alongside the photographs in an album, with each label depicting details of the photograph which has been taken.

The advantage of the page of labels is that the details can be entered on a series of labels in a consecutive order matching the order in which the photographs are taken. The sequence of labels can be kept together in the right order until the photographs are developed and printed. The labels can then be removed individually one at a time in the right order, and matched up with the appropriate photograph so that the details and the photographs are not confused.

Claims

1. A photograph logging device comprising a booklet having a plurality of pages carrying labels, and a writing implement for recording on the labels details of photographs at the time the photographs are taken, in which each page bears a plurality of labels arranged to allow information relating to a series of photographs to be recorded on a series of labels, and in which the booklet has a storage means for storing the writing implement to allow the writing implement to be carried with the booklet.

2. A device according to Claim 1 in which the storage means comprises a sleeve into which the implement can be slidably engaged.

3. A device according to Claim 1 or 2 in which the booklet is formed with a cover hinged to open at the top of the booklet.

4. A device according to Claim 3 when including the features of Claim 2, in which the sleeve extends across the top of the booklet in the region of the hinge.

5. A device according to Claim 4 in which the sleeve is formed by the cover being folded over at the region of the hinge.

6. A device according to any preceding claim in which the labels are elongate across each page and are arranged in a series running down each page of the booklet.

7. A device according to any preceding claim in which the labels are numbered in sequence with an indicating number on each label.

8. A device according to any preceding claim in which the labels are self-adhesive.

9. A method of logging information concerning a series of photographs, comprising: writing details of each succeeding photograph, at the time of taking the photograph, on succeeding labels on a page of labels; after printing of the photographs, removing from the page of labels succeeding labels; and attaching each label to, or in the vicinity of, its associated photograph.

10. A method according to Claim 9 including writing details of photographs taken in a consecutive order on the series of labels on the page in the same consecutive order, and then, after printing of the photographs, removing the labels from the page in the same consecutive order and attaching the labels to or in the vicinity of the associated photographs, in the same consecutive order.
