Description

Device for controlling a printing machine The invention relates to a device for controlling a printing machine, especially a web-fed printing machine.
Such a machine is described by way of example in German Offenlegungsschrift 3,718,594. This is a device for controlling a machine, especially a printing machine, having a control desk consisting of operating elements for the input of commands and indicator elements for status indication.
Printing machines, especially web-fed printing machines, have a multiplicity of functions, and therefore the functions as a whole are less clearly visible.
Furthermore, on the web-fed printing machine there are appliances which are controllable independently of one another, such as, for example, the control of the upper and the control of the lower printing units. In contrast to heat-fed printing machines having control panels on the feeder/delivery and on a central control desk, the operation of web-fed printing machines is mainly concentrated on a common control panel, with the result that a simultaneous control of a plurality of functions is impossible or possible only with great difficulty.
The object of the invention is, therefore, to provide a device for controlling a printing machine, which allows an appropriate, clearly visible and, if appropriate, simultaneous operation of the various appliances in the printing machine.
This object is achieved, according to the invention, in that the printing machine has at least two separate control panels.
It is possible by means of this measure to carry out an appropriate task division with respect to the control of the printing machine. For example, there is provided at least one first control panel for tasks involving the machine control as a whole. Another control panel is reserved, for example, for the printingunit control, especially the inking and dampening units.
The advantages associated with the invention are especially that it becomes possible to operate the machine with a plurality of persons having different tasks. It can, if appropriate, become possible to perform the functions simultaneously. The arrangement of the control panels becomes more clearly visible.
The invention is explained in more detail below by means of an exemplary embodiment: The single Figure shows three control panels 100, 200, 300 which are arranged, for example, on a control desk (1) of a web-fed printing machine.
A web-fed printing machine possesses, as is known, upper and lower printing units as well as additional appliances, such as, for example, printing-unit drives, reel changer, draw-in unit, drier, cooling rollers, folder, rotary cross-cutter, etc. The control panels 100, 200, 300 are now divided in such a way that the control panel 100 is assigned the lower printing-unit parts and the control panel 300 the upper printing-unit parts. For example, all the further units mentioned above are operated by means of the control panel 200.
In view of their particular tasks, the control panels have different key arrangements. The central control panel 200 lacks the colour keys since these are not needed there. The command and number keyboards are not needed on the other two control panels 100 and 300.
For example, this task division can also be varied. In a two-track web-fed printing machine, it is expedient, for example, to combine the printing units not as upper and lower, but according to track 1 and track 2.
This is possible by means of the command "printing-unit allocation". Furthermore, in principle, there is no restriction on the selective allocation.
Moreover, in the event of faults, information can be transferred. This takes place partially automatically, but can also be carried out by means of a command. Thus, for instance, in the event of a failure of the left-hand control panel 100, its information can be transferred to the right-hand control panel 300.
It will be appreciated that the invention has been described above by way of example only and that changes may be made without departing from the scope of the invention.

Claims (7)

1. Device for controlling a printing machine having a control desk which possesses at least two control panels for different task sectors.
2. Device according to claim 1, in which the printing machine is a web-fed printing machine.
3. Device according to claim 1 or claim 2, in which at least one control panel is provided for the machine control as a whole.
4. Device according to claim 3, in which the machine control comprises drive, reel changer, draw-in unit, printing unit, drier, cooling rollers, folder, rotary crosscutter, drives and the like.
5. Device according to any one of claims 1 to 4, in which at least one control panel is provided for upper printing units.
6. Device according to any one of claims 1 to 5, in which at least one control panel is provided for lower printing units.
7. Device substantially as described, with reference to the drawing.
