Description
> 23 7.?jj 1 A wilDer arranaement The invention relates to a wiper
arrangement f or motor vehicles. having a wiper moveable from a ready position f or wiping in which its wiper blade is pivotable along a surface to be wiped on the outside oL the vehicle into a rest position different from the ready position, and havina a cover strip which covers the wiper in its rest position towards the outside of the vehicle and which in the ready position of the wiper clears a path for the pivoting movement of the wiper blade.
US Patent 2 895 157 discloses a wiper arrangement in which the wiper. when it is not in use. is to be pivoted from its ready position into a rest position under a cover strip. In this arrangement, the cover strip is firmly coupled to the lowering movement of the wiper. So that the wiper can be taken from its rest position again and put with its wiper blade onto the surface to be wiped, the wiper must be guided with the cover strip by means of a connecting link quide alona a curved line, the wiper motor also having to be moved.
The present invention seeks to provide a wiper arrangement in which the wiper is m oveable from the rest position into the ready position and back in a confined space and with little complexity as regards the guidance of L-he wiper.
According to the present invention there is provided a winer arrangement f or motor vehicles, having a wiper moveable from a ready position for wiping in which its wiper blade is pivotable along a surf ace to be wiped on the outside of the vehicle into a rest position different from the ready position, and having a cover strip which covers the wiper in its rest position towards the outside of the vehicle and which in the ready position of the wiper clears a path f or the pivoting movement of the wiper blade, wherein a supporting strip on which the wiper blade of the wiper rests is moveable with the movement of the wiper f rom the 2 rest position into the ready position, and the supporting strip has in the ready position a plane transition to the lens surface.
The arranaement of a supporting strip in front of the wiper blade located in the rest position and in the inactive ready position facilitates a simple-to-realize movement of the wiper together with the cover strip. It is thereby possible to displace the wiper rectilinearly as well as to pivot it on a tilting spindle. Here, the wiper blade, in the ready position, always finds a plane transition from the supporting strip to the adjoining surface to be wiped.
The cover strip and the supporting strip can be designed in one piece or can be firmly connected to one another and can be coupled to the displacement or tilting movement of the wiper. The control of the mutually dependent movement of the wiloer with the cover strilo and of the supporting strip can consequently be realized at little cost.
Three exemplary embodiments of the invention will mow be described by way of example with reference to the drawina, in which:
Fig. 1 shows an oblique view of a wiper in the ready position, Fig. 2a shows a sketch of a tiltable wiper in the rest position, Fia. 2b shows the wiper from Fig. 2a in the ready position, Fig. 3a shows a sketch of a wiper in the rest position, which wiper can be displaced rectilinearly and Fig. 3b shows the wiper from Fig. 3a in the ready position.
A wiper arrangement on a cover lens 1 of a vehicle lamp 2 (not shown in more detail) of a motor vehicle is shown in Fig. 1. A wiper 3 lies transversely in a ready position for wiping at the bottom end of the lens surface 4 of the cover lens 1 on the outside of the vehiclet and its wiper blade 5 can be pivoted along the lens surface 4 on the outside of the vehicle after the actuation of a wiper motor (not shown) which acts on a drive shaft 6. The wiper blade 3 of the wiper 3 rests on a supporting strip 7 which in this ready position forms a plane transition with the lens surf ace 4, as a result of which the wiper blade 5 can wipe without resistance f rom the supporting strip 7 onto the lens surface 4 and back during its pivoting movement.
This wiper 3 can be shifted into a rest position different from the ready position, in which rest position it is covered towards the outside of the vehicle by a cover strip 8 which however, as shown, clears a path f or the pivoting movement of the wiper blade 5 in the ready position- As can be seen from Figures 2a and 2b, the supporting strip 7 and the cover strip 8 can be moved together with the wiper 3 from the rest position into the ready position and back again. In this arrangement, the wiper blade 5 rests on the supporting strip 7 and can thus wipe in the ready position from the supporting strip 7 without resistance onto the adjoining lens surface 4 and back again.
The supporting strip 7 and the cover strip 8 are orientated with their cross-sections at right angles to one another and are laterally connected to one another and thus perform the same pivoting movement in each case without a more complex control system. The wiper 3 is secured to a tilting spindle 9, which here corresponds to the drive shaft 6, and is consequently likewise pivotable through a right angle. The wiper 3 is tilted with the supporting strip 7 in the rest position away from the outside of the vehicle under the cover lens 1 of the vehicle lamp 2. the cover strip 8 covering the wiper 3 towakds the outside of the vehicle f lush with the cover lens 1 and above a bumper 10. In the ready position shown in Fig. 2b, the tilting spindle 9 is moved into an extended position and as a result the supporting strip 7 plus the cover strip 8 are also pivoted, as a result of which the wiper 3 is ready in the wiping position in front of the cover lens 1. Any known drive can be provided for the pivoting movement of the tilting spindle 4 9 and the supporting strip 7 or the cover strip 8.
Figures 3a. and 3b show a wiper arrangement in which a wiper 31 can be displaced rectilinearly from a rest -position (Fig. 3a) sunk relative to the outside of the vehicle into a ready position (Fig. 3b) for wiping in front of the cover lens 1 by a displacement spindle 11 which also f orms the drive shaft 61 of the said wiper. During this displacement movement, a supporting strip 7,1 and a cover strin 81 are also displaced until the supporti ng strip 7f f orms a plane transition to the cover lens 1, at which transition the supporting strip 71 and the cover lens 1 overlap with a plane surf ace. In this position, the cover strip St also clears a path for the wiping movement of the wiper blade 5 f f rom the supporting strip 71 over the lens surface 4 and back again. Here, given sufficient pivoting range of the wiper 3 1, the displacement movement of the cover strip 81 could also take place, if required, only on the side of the displacement spindle 11, as a result of which the cover strip 81 would not project beyond the vehicle lamn 2 over the entire width of the cover lens 1.
claims A wiper arrangement f or motor vehicles, having a wiper moveable from a ready position for wiping in which its wiper blade is pivotable along a surface to be wiped on the outside of the vehicle into a rest position different from the ready position, and having a. cover strip which covers the wiper in its rest position towards the outside of the vehicle and which in the ready position of the wiper clears path for the pivoting movement of the wiper blade, wherein supporting strip on which the wiper blade of the wiper rests is moveable with the movement of the wiper f rom the rest position into the ready position, and the supporting strip has in the ready position a plane transition to the lens surface.
