Abstract

A device for removing loose fibres from pile materials such as carpeting has a fine-toothed blade 10 rigidly attached to a crosspiece 11 with a handle 12, as shown in figure 2. The device removes loose fibres from pile material when drawn across the material using gentle downward pressure. <IMAGE>

Description

Loose fibre Remover This invention relates to a device for removing loose fibres from pile materials such as carpeting or other fabrics.
The removal of loose fibres from pile materials is often difficult. The loose fibres become enmeshed with the pile and may not be removed by the usual methods (brushing and vacuum cleaning) According to the present invention there is provided a fine toothed blade, which when drawn across pile material removes and accumulates the loose fibres and deposits them on the surface of the material, leaving the pile intact.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: - Figure 1 shows the detail of the toothed blade; Figure 2 shows the blade comprising part of a holder to facilitate use; and Figure 3 demonstrates the manner in which the blade is drawn across the pile of the material, the arrow showing direction of motion Referring to figure 2 the device comprises a fine - toothed blade 10, detail of which may be seen in figure 1. The blade is rigidly supported by the crosspiece 11 which is attached to handle 12.
As shown in figure 3 the loose fibres are removed from the pile material when the device is drawn towards the user applying gentle downward pressure.

Claims
1. A device comprising a fine - toothed blade rigidly supported and attached to a handle.
2. A device as described in claim 1 with an longer handle to enable use while standing.
