Abstract

In a contactless low voltage electronic distributor for internal combustion engines, the conventional rotary arm and arrangement of mechanical contacts in the distributor cap for distribution of high tension voltage are replaced by low voltage switching circuits encapsulated in a metal body replacing the distributor cap and with use of at least one high tension coil per two engine cylinders. The distributor shown uses a rotary magnet (2) cooperating with at least one transducer (3) per two cylinders of the engine. Power transistors (10) for the ignition are clamped in the metal body (1) by flat springs (11). A circuit board (8) carries the transducer(s) (3) and light-emitting diodes (7) to serve as timing lights. <IMAGE>

Description

Title :- LOW VOLTAGE CONTACTLESS ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTOR Techniral field- The present invention relates to combustion engines, in particular to an ignition system distributors.
Background art:- Presently used distributors for combustion engines are using arrangemets of rotary arm, mechanical contacts and high tension cables to distribute high voltage from one ignition coil to sparking plugs. A distributor cap and rotary arm are frequently cause of ignition fialure.
Presented art:- The present invention introduces contactless low voltage electronic distributor without the rotary arm and mechanical cntacts in the distributor cap which is eliminated and uses instead a metal body housing electronic circuitry for controlling ignition sparks for each cylinder and uses one high tension ignition coil per one cylinder of the engine.
In this arrangement. there is not present high tension voltage in the distributor at all. Also it uses one electronic switching circuit and c.ne timing light per each cylinder of the engine making the ignition system more reliable, accurate and easier to set up.
A specific embodiment of the Invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing which is represented:1. Metal body 2. Permanent magnet 3. Magnetic transducer 4. Cable connector 5. Separator washer 6. Magnet carrier 7 Light emitting diode 8. Printed circuit board 9. Back washer 10. Power transistor 11. Flat spring 12. Bearings 13. Driver bush 14.Distributor spindle 15. Driver notch A low voltage contactless electronic distributor having a metal body (1) accommodating permanent magnet (2) within rotatably mounted in bearings (12) magnet carrier (6), above the magnet carrier (6) being a magnet operated transducers (3), at least one per two cylinders of the engine, separated from the permanent magnet b thin metal shield and a small gap allowing the magnet carrier (6) to b rotated Also accommodated within the metal body is printed circuit board (8) carrying the magnetic transducer (3), light emitting diodes (7) serving as a timing lights, cable connectors (4). power transistors (10) and other electronic components in the switching circuits, built on the printed circuit board (8) in plurality p at least one circuit per two c cylinders of f the engine.
The distributor spindle (14) is rotated in synchronisation with engine crankshaft and by means of a notch (15:' rotating the magnet carrier (6) accommodating the permanent magnet (2),the permanent magnet (2) triggering in sequence the magnetic transducers (3) which control the ignition circuits.
The power transistors (10) are clamped by flat springs (11) in the pockets provided in said metal body (1).The whole arrangement of the ignition circuits is encapsulated in the metal body (1) by suitable incapsulant.
