Abstract

Double & triple layered PVC pockets have, as part of their construction, a layer (b) of black PVC with either two or one layer(s) (a,c) of clear PVC on both or one side of the black PVC. They are both used to display certain items that are flat & require a black background i.e. a photograph (in theory the black PVC layer could be any colour according to the displayers' taste). In the case of the triple layered pocket either side can be used as there is a layer of clear PVC on either side of the black PVC. In the case of the double layered pocket only one side can be used to display i.e. the clear side. The layers are welded together along the line (d) and edges to form four separate compartments. <IMAGE>

Description

(Panel A) Title ; backed Display Pockets Technical Field This invention relates to double & triple layered single & BR< twin sided, lined PVC pocket.
Background : PVC pockets are a stationery item made of a clear PVC material. They facilitate the insertion ot' d.ocuments, loose papers and other stationery items to keep them together and to enable the contents to be seen clearly through the clear PVC This invention relates particularly to the displaying of fashion photographs that are usually put inside a clear PVC pocket together with a black 100 gsm paper backing in order to set the photograph off aesthetically. This invention replaces the paper with a layer of black PVC either sandwiched between the two outer layers of clear PVC or one layer of clear PVC & one layer of black PVC, thus removing the need for the time consuming insertion of the black backing paper and the rapid wear & tear of the black backing paper. This invention is conventionally made in the high frequency PVC tool welding method ad is manufactured on the continuos roll method. The pocket ls welded on 3 sides and open at the top (Panel B) Decription of drawing With reference to the drawing of the 'lined PVC pocket' it shows two views of the pocket.
Front view 1 shows the construction of a triple layered double pocket (i,e. the centre weld in effect makes this pocket into two sections, although this is not always necessary1 as a single pocket may be required for certain purposes). The welds are all achieved by high frequency welding.
Plan view 2 The triple layer is shown in the drawings as being opened at the top in an exaggerated way to show the layers clearly (1+2). In reality they are flat and would be touching.
If a twin layered pocket is required then leave ot the second layer of clear PVC. This pocket will only enable one facing side to be used as a display i.e. one side is black and the other is clear

Claims (4)

  1. (Panel C) J Claims 1) Both of the previously described & detailed pockets in two & three layers of clear & black PVC are designed to do away with the necessity of inserting a. black backing paper of approximately lO()gsm into a normal PVC pocket. This in effect reduces the cost as the paper is isiserted by hand, this invention is made with existing pocket making welding equipment.
  2. 2) The life span of PVC in this particular application is far greater than the paper it is replacing and does not require any maintenance. The paper by contrast will become tatty or fall t or crease & require replacement.
    C) The double & trIple layers of PVC are the main features of this invent ion and can be used in conjunct ion with l.i.niversally punched margins or normal 2,
  3. 3 & 4 hole punched margins or in a display book form, as a solid welded design.
  4. 4) The triple layered pocket is far stronger than the conventional two layered clear PVC pocket due tn the additional middle layer of black PVC being an Integral part of the manufacturing process and not an addition as the black paper would be.
