Abstract

A golf practice putter has a metal shaft 1 and a metal head 2. The putter has two screws 4 which strike the ball if an incorrect stroke is made there being just sufficient space between them to accommodate a ball diameter. The projection of the screws may be adjustable and they may be removed. A circular striking member 3 is located on the club face. <IMAGE>

Description

PRACTICE GOLF PUTTER This invention relates to a practice golf putter.
A golf putter is part of the total golf clubs needed to play golf. A putter is used for the small shots in the game of golf. The putter comprises of a thin metal shaft connected to a sphere-like piece of metal used to hit the golf ball.
The biggest problem when using a putter is trying to keep the putter at right angles to the golf ball when putting, -users usually twist slightly, therefore not getting the right contact with the golf ball.
According to the present invention there are two adjustable screws on the front of the putter so that if the golf ball was struck incorrectly (not at right angles to the ball) the ball would hit the screws and veer right or left accordingly.
Therefore if the player made a perfect putt, the ball would not touch the screws. If the screws were removed from the putter, the golfer would still be required to hit the ball satisfactorily because of the sphererical metal peice on the face of the putter. Therefore with enough practice with this putter the ball will be struck properly with the screws attached, and the golfer will know that he is putting correctly.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows the front view Figure 2 shows the top view Figure 3 shows the side view Referring to the drawing the putter comprises of a shaft 1 and a sphere-like metal head 2. At the front of the head two adjustable screws 4 protrude.
The shaft 1 could be of any length dependent on the size of the person using the putter.
The head 2 itself can be of any shape or size but the part that hits the ball 3 and the centre of the base that rest on the ground should be flat.
Where the ball is hit 3 should be circular and protrude from the front of the head.
The screws 4 should be centred on the front of the head 2, either side of 3. The spacing should be calculated to give just enough space for a golf ball to pass between the screws 4 and hit 3.
These screws 4 should be adjustable in so much that the user should be able to move them in and out according to his putting proficiency. The screws 4 should also be able to be removed from the head 2 if required.
There should also be guide lines 5 on the top of the head 2 to help the player align his put with the hole and ball.
