Abstract

A controllable air recirculator provides for moving warmer ceiling level air down through ducting 2, filter and filter housing 12, ducting 10, and out through a control unit housing 9. Sensors make the unit operate when daylight or artificial light is present and when their is a positive temperature difference. The unit also has an override switch to facilitate use during darkness. The housings and ductings interlock together to form a rigid unit. The air flow can be reversed if required. A disposable and replaceable filter medium is mounted in a filter tray carrier which is in turn mounted in a filter tray housing. Extension ducts can be fitted to the air intake and air outlets to increase the units effective range. System operating status and optional temperature display, which can be mounted in any preferred direction, are provided on the unit. <IMAGE>

Description

AIR RECIRCULATOR This invention relates to an air recirculator.
In temporary offices, rooms with high ceilings or any dwelling / working area, there is usually an air temperature difference between the colder floor /skIrting board level air and the warmer ceiling level air.
lead an lead to the occupants working / living in overheated, stuffy conditions at the mid-room to ceiling height level, while their lower limbs and feet are cold and uncomfortable at the skirting board / floor level.
According to the present invention there is provided a controllable air recirculator, comprising of interlocking rigid ductings and housings, means for recirculating the warm ceiling level air down through the rigid and soaped duct, then through a replaceable and disposable filter located in a filter housing, then through a lower dusting and out of the fan / control unit housing at the floor/ skirting board level. A control unit causes the air recirculator to operate automatically when the air temperature at the ceiling level is higher than the air temperature at the floor / skirting board level, and only when daylight or artificial light is present.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which : Figure 1 shows in perspective the complete air recirculator unit; Figure 2 illustrates the underside of the fan / control unit housing with air outlet holes, slots and louvres.
Figure 9 shows the filter housing removed from the upper and lower ducts; Figure 4 shows the fan / control housing removed from the lower ducting.
Referring to the drawing, the air recirculator comprises of an air intake duct 2, filter and system statues display housing 12, lower duct 10, plus fan, control and air outlet housing 9, In order to move the warm ceiling air down to floor / skirting board level, the unit has an intelligent control system which uses information from sensors so tat it only operates during daylight or when artificial lighting is present and when the ceiling level air temperature is higher tan the floor / skirting board level air temperature.
The system operates a fan when the above criteria are met and warm air @s passed down through the Intake duct 2, through the the filter stem and display housing 12, down through the lower duct 10, and out through the fan, control and air outlet housing 9, ia the holes and slots 8 and louvres 7.
The system switches the fan of, when the ceiling level and floor / skirting board level air temperature show no significant difference or during periods of darkness.
The air flow can be reversed if required to produce a cooling effect.
The filter unt has a replaceable dIsposable filter 13, and system status indicators 11, plus optional temperature display module 4.
Floor and ceiling extension ducts increase the range of the air intake and air outlet positions.
An overide switch is incorporated to allow the fan to operate during hours of darkness.
The unit is clamped to wall or bulkhead by fixing points; assorted thicknesses of packing pieces are supplied to minimise / avoid cutting chair rails and skirting boards.
