Abstract

A towel 1 as shown in figure 1 with one end reinforced to form a cupped end 2. The towel can be used in a game of bowls in a similar fashion as is already used, i.e. to wipe perspiration from the bowls player hands or for cleaning the bowls. The towel allows the bowls player to pick up his bowl without bending down by simply dropping the cupped end 2 to the ground and pushing the bowl in the cupped end with the foot and pulling the towel up. <IMAGE>

Description

BOWLS This invention is concerned with game of bowls in particular an apparatus and method for picking up a bowl without bending down.
The game of bowls is considered to be a skillful rather than physical sport with virtually no injuries occurring to the players. However picking up the heavy bowl means bending down and this gradually leads to back ache particularly in the older players.
According to the present invention there is provided a normal towel, generally carried by a bowls player used to wipe perspiration from the player's hands, with one end of the towel cupped by sewing reinforcing into the hem of the towel. The cupped end is held on the ground and the bowl is simply pushed into the cupped end with the foot and then the bowl can be simply pulled up by the player without bending down.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:- Figure 1 shows in perspective, the towel.
Referring to figure 1 the towel 1 is shown with the cupped end 2.
The bowls player simply holds the top of the towel 1 and pushes the bowl in to the cupped end 2 with his foot. The player then simply pulls up the bowl with the towel which means he doesn't have to bend down.
