Abstract

A motor cycle anti-theft disc brake lock has a single detachable shackle 1-1 which can be used with or without a collar 1-6 and is inserted through the vent holes in the brake disc 1-12 and married up with lock body 1-4 on the other face of the brake disc 1-12. When the shackle 1-1 and the lock body 1-4 are secure the brake disc 1-12 will not rotate past the disc caliper unit 1-13 thus immobilising the motor cycle. The lock has to be easily seen so it has a bright fluorescent rubber or plastics coated steel body 1-4. <IMAGE>

Description

This invention relates to a motor cycle disc brake lock.
Background Motor cycle security systems come in a variety of examples, some electronic, i.e. audible alarms, others are chain and padlock which are very bulky and heavy, and there is the type with a 'U' shaped shackle measuring about 9" to 12", this also being large and heavy. Motor cyclists are often short of storage space, especially on modern sports motor cycles, but especially so on their person. They often wear close fitting riding outfits with few pockets. This lock is small enough to fit into any pocket.
Essential Technical Features The single shackle lock has notched grooves in the shackle which is detachable from the lock body. The shackle is also > st8hlp in thP lock body, i.e.
the shackle can be parted from the lock body, pushed from the inner side of the disc through any hole in the disc and, when married up to the lock body, the shackle can be re-located into the retaining chamber where the spring assisted bolt will trap the shackle in the grooves in the shackle - thus trapping the brake disc between the shackle's head and the lock body.
Brake discs are of varying thicknesses and holes in the disc are various sizes. Therefore, several steel collars of various sizes to fit over shackle are supplied. This device is effective when attached close to the caliper of the disc brake hindering rotation of the road wheel. However, when a device is used fore and aft of the caliper, the road wheel is completely immobilised.
Example A specific embodiment of the lock will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing.
