Abstract
A case for containing and dispensing a paste substance e.g. a lipstick comprises a pastel holder (1), a sleeve (2) and a band (3) arranged coaxially and having means for slidingly engaging one another whereby when the band (3) and a ring (4) fixed to the holder (1) are relatively rotated, the sleeve (2) moves axially so as to reveal or conceal the tip of the stick (R) protruding from the rim (1''') of the pastel holder, while the distance (D) between the point (R') of the stick and the base (1') of the pastel holder remains unchanged. <IMAGE>
Description
A CASE FOR CONTAINING AND DISPENSING A SUBSTANCE IN PASTE FORM. IN PATICULAR A PASTEL OR LIPSTICK OR THE TYPE USED BY WOEN AS A COSMETIC
FOR COLOURING THE LIPS
The present invention relates to a case for containing and dispensing a substance in paste form, in particular a pastel or lipstick of the type used by women as a cosmetic for colouring the lips.
Different types of lipstick cases are known. These already known types however usually have the drawback of damaging the lipstick, particuarly the point, when, while slipping on the protective cap of the lipstick, the lipstick has inadvertently not been properly retraced into the case after use.
The aim of the present invention is to create a container for lipstick, which, while maintaining the relative rotation of the various elements comprising it, will enable the above drawback to be avoided.
According to the invention4 this aim is achieved in that it has a pastel holders a sleeve and a band with cylindrical surfaces movable with respect to one same longitudinal axis which are provided with means capable of engaging and sliding at the same time with one another, and in that when an angular rotation movement, in one direction or the opposite direction, is imparted to a ring integral with the pastel holder, and at the same time holding the band still which is outside the said pastel holder and sleeve, the sleeve moves up and down in an axial direction, in order to uncover or to cover up the part of the lipstick protruding from the rim of the pastel holder while the distance which exists between the point of the lipstick and the base of the pastel holder remains unchanged.
According to a preferred embodiment, the invention foresees that the driving ring of the lipstick is mounted in a detachable waylay on the outer angular edge of the paste holder base, and that in addition the ring prevents the band from moving in a longitudinal direction, yet ensures a reciprocal rotary movement between the band and the ring.
In order to prevent any reciprocal angular moving away of the ring and the band and to ensure their reciprocal rotary movement, preferably an annular rim protrudes towards the outside from the base of the band, and engages, leaving a clearance, with the corresponding annular recess existing on the base zone of the ring.
A coaxial lipstick protector cap is also foreseen, which rests on the upper zone of the ring and engages easily with it.
In addition, on the outer cylindrical surface of the pastel holder, shaped like a cylindrical tube and near the rim of the tube preferably two diametrically opposed pegs or rungs are foreseen, with one task of engaging slidingly into the same number of complementary grooves made on the cylindrical inner surface of the sleeve, which is able to perform the previously-mentioned up and dowm movement.
According to a preferred embodiment, as well as the spiral shaped grooves made on the cylindrical inner surface of the sleeve, two diametrically opposed pins project from the outer surface of the same sleeve near the base, with the task of engaging slidingly into the corresponding complementary rectilinear notches which are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the case These notches are in their turn made on the cylindrical inner surface of the band, with the task of guiding the sleeve and limiting the length of its movement.
A clearer explanation will be given by the appended drawing, which shows a preferred and not restrictive embodiment of the invention.
Figure 1 is a partially sectional view of the invention on a larger scale; figure 2 is a front view of the invention on a larger scale, but smaller with respect to figure 1.
The lipstick case A (figure 2) encloses coaxially and movable between each other a pastel holder 1, an axially movable sleeve 2 which surrounds the pastel holder, and a band 3 outside this pastel holder and sleeve, a & ring 4 being friction mounted on the outer edge of the circular base 1 of the pastel holder, said ring, when rotated with two fingers of one hand, with two fingers of the other hand locking the band 3 at the same time, allows axial and linear forward or backward movement respectively of the sleeve 2 with respect to the base of the case itself; the ring d also acts as a friction fastening me ns for a pastel protector cap S on it.
The lipstick case A has a support for the lipstick R or pastel holder 1, made in the shape of a cylindrical tube which holds one part of the lipstick and is also provided with a flat supporting base li, From the upper zone of the pastel holder 1 and at average-distance d from t.he said resting base 1' a series of two diametrically opposed pegs or rungs 1" protrude outward, which are intended to engage and slide into complementary helicoidal grooves 1"', made in their turn on the inner wall of the sleeve 2, which surrounds the said pastel holder 1 along its height, leaving a clearance. As well as these helicoidal grooves 1", sleeve 2 has a series of two pins 2' diametrically opposed to each other, on the outer wall and near its base. The task of these pints is to engage and slide into corresponding opposed rectilinear notches 2 which are made on the inner wall of the band 3 which surrounds, leaving a clearance, the above-mentioned pastel holder 1 and sleeve 2. The extreme' upper part 2"' of these rectilinear notches 2" is positioned perpendicular to the base 1' of the pastel holder 1, and forms the stop at the end of the upward movement of the sleeve 2.
On the outer edge of the base 1 of the pastel holder 1 a ring 4 is friction mounted for driving the pastel holder 1. The ring 4, which forms a substantially single unit with the pastel holder 1, prevents the band 3 from moving in a longitudinal direction, while ensuring their reciprocal rotary movement. This is brought about through the reciprocal engaging with clearance of the outer annular rim 3' which exists near the base of the band 3, with the corresponding annular recess 4' made on the base zone and inside the ring 4.
Apart from wearing down the point R' of the lipstick after it is used, it follows that when the ring 4, and with it the pastel holder 1, is rotated in one or the other direction, (arrow F1), while the band 3 is at the same time prevented from rotating (by being held, for example, along arrow F29 the sleeve 2 performs respectively an ascending or descending axial movement to cover or uncover the portion of lipstick which protrudes from the rim 1"" of the pastel holder, while the distance D, existing between the extreme point R' of the lipstick and the base of the pastel holder remains unchanged.
