Abstract

A protective strip (2) of a racket head (3) has a length sufficient to cover a racket frame except for a junction (33) with a racket handle (32), and provides a longitudinal engaging seat (21) engaged with engaging elements (1) which can move along said engaging seat (21) to adjust the centre of gravity of the racket. Description

TITLE: A Means For Ad.iusting Racket Gravity Center This invention relates to a means for adjusting the center of gravity of a racket.

Typically. a user may attach some article on a racket to alternate or adjust the center of gravity of the racket to suit different conditions of exercise.

Conventionally. a lead block is used to adjust the center of gravity of a racket. The lead block is fastened on a frame of the racket head by a wire to change the center of gravity of the racket. Thus. when the user wishes to adjust the center of gravitv of the racket. he has to release the wire then moves the lead block to another position. and then refasten the wire adain; therefore. it is inconvenient to adiust the center of gravity of a racket.

thus after the racket is used for a period of time. the wire will loose and the lead block will be thrown out of kilter bv centrifugal force or by striking.

It is the purpose of this Dresent invention.

therefore. to mitidate and/or obviate the abovementioned drawback in the manner set forth in the detailed description of the preferred embodiment.

This invention presents a simplified adjusting means to adjust the center of gravity of a racket. the adjusting means includes a protective strip and a plurality of engaging elements.

The protective strip is attached to a frame of racket head and has a length sufficient to cover the entire racket head frame except at a junction with a racket handle, which provides an engaging seat along an upper surface thereof. The engaging element may engage to the seat on the protective strip and move along the seat.

It is an object of the present invention to provide an adjusting means to easily adjust the center of dravitv of a racket.

Referring to Fig. 1. conventionai a racket has a racket head 3 which provides a frame 31 that has a plurality of holes 311 for stinging. An adjusting means in accordance with the present invention comprises a protective strip. indicated at 2. which has a length sufficient to completely cover the frame 31 except at a -junction portion 33, where the frame 31 meets the handle 32; and a plurality of engaging elements designated as 1. By alternating a position of the engaging elements, the center of gravity of the racket may be adjusted.

Referring to Figs. 2 and 3. a protective strip 2 in accordance with the present invention is provided with a plurality of protuberant tubes 23 on a bottom side thereof, which correspond to holes 311 of the frame 31 and insert into the holes 311 to preset the Protective strip 2 on the frame 31'to be strune. On an upper side of the protective strip 2 there is Drovided an engaging seat. and in a preferred embodiment of the present invention. it is a dovetail seat designated as 1. The dovetail seat 21 has a longitudinal groove therein to receive catguts.

The engaging means in a preferred embodiment of this invention may be a counterweight cover designated as 1. which has a dovetail groove 11 corresponding to the dovetail seat 21 on the protective strip 2. The counterweight cover 1 may be engaged with the dovetail seat 21 by pressing an upper surface thereof. and if desired. the counterweight cover 1 may be pushed along the dovetail seat 2 to a suitable position for adjusting the center of gravity of the racket.

In a preferred embodiment of the present invention4 the dovetail seat 21 on the protective strip 2 and the counterweight cover 1 may be made of resi-lient material. On both outer lateral sides of the dovetail seat 21 there is provided a plurality of upward rooves 22, while the counterweight cover provides a plurality of parallel transverse projections 12 on an inner wall thereof corresponding to the upward grooves 22 of the dovetail seat 21. Thus. when the counterweight cover 1 engages to the dovetail seat 2.

the projections 12 are inserted into the corresponding groove 22 to prevent the counterweight cover 1 from moving It is to be understood. however. that even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description. together with details of the structure and function of the invention. the disclosure is illustrative onlv. and changes may be made in detail.

Claims

Claims:

1. A means for adjusting the center of gravity of a racket comprising a protective strip having a length sufficient to cover a racket head except for a junction with a racket handle, said protective strip providing a plurality of protuberant tubes on a bottom side thereof for inserting into corresponding holes of a racket frame with an engaging means on a top surface thereof, said engaging means comprising a longitudinal protuberant engaging seat and a plurality of engaging elements engaged thereto. said engaging elements being capable of moving along said seat.

2. An adjusting means as claimed in claim 1. wherein said engaging seat is formed as a dovetail seat and said engaging element provides a corresponding dovetail groove.

3. An adjusting means as claimed in claim 1. wherein said dovetail seat has a pluralitv of upward grooves along both laterals side thereof and said engaging element provides a plurality of parallel transverse projections on an inner wall thereof.

4. A means for adjusting the center of gravity of a racket substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as shown in the accompanying drawings.
