Abstract

A golf aid for use by a golfer as an aid for improvement or storage of information about the distances a ball is struck and how far is loft for the ball to be struck in order to reach the Hole or pin of the relevant part of the course. The golf aid may comprise a database used in conjunction with a doppler input and sensor, an ultrasonic sensor, an optical sensor, a satellite navigation system, a visual display system, an audible system, or a touch system.

Description

A Golf Aid.
This invention relates to an aid for use by sportspeople.
Most golfers have the desire to know how far they have driven the current shot and as a direct result how far they have left to the pin or hole. An accurate knowledge of these distances would improve their ability to judge the choice of club for the next shot. Most golfers use landmarks to decide how far they have struck the ball. This has the disadvantage that if the tee is moved then the landmark distance also moves.
In the present invention there is provided an accurate means of measuring the distance a ball is struck by the golfer and also there is the accompanying database to go with this information so that the golfer can record relevant details for later use in judging the next and subsequent strokes on the same or different courses.
The invention consists of: A method of measuring distance.
A method of calculating distance of this hole left and done.
A method of displaying or familiarising the player with this information.
A method of storing the information for later retrieval of the stored data.
Description.
An example of the invention consists of: A method of communicating information to the user to be attached to the golf trolley, persons attire or someother such method of carrying the aforesaid method of communication such that it can be accessed when necessary. An input device such as a keyboard, series of switches or similar such that the information relevant to the database can be input which should be available for easy use. A method of measuring distance to be input to the database such that this information can be used for subsequent calculations about the distance covered and the distance left for this particular shot.

Claims (11)

Claims.
1 A golf aid comprising a database, a method of interrogating the database, a method of communicating the database to the user, a method of inputting or measuring the distance that the ball has travelled.
2 A golf aid as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the method of inputting the distance travelled by the ball is an input from the wheel of a mechanism carried,pushed or pulled by the aforesaid golfer
3 A golf aid as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the method of inputting the distance travelled by the ball is a doppler input from a doppler sensor carried,mounted or used inorder to measure the distance covered by the ball.
4 A golf aid as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the method of inputting the distance travelled by the ball is an input from a mechanism carried,pushed or pulled by the aforesaid golfer.
5 A golf aid as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the method of inputting the distance travelled by the ball is an input from an ultrasonic sensor.
6 A golf aid as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the method of inputting the distance travelled by the ball is an input from an optical sensor.
7 A golf aid as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the method of inputting the distance travelled by the ball is an input from a satellite navigation system.
8 A golf aid as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the method of communicating the information to the user is via a visual display system.
9 A golf aid as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the method of communicating the information to the user is via audible system.
10 A golf aid as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the method of communicating the information to the user is via a touch system.
11 A golf aid as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 or Claim 3 or Claim 4 or Claim 5 or Claim 6 or Claim 7 Claim 8 Claim 9 Claim 10 where any combination of the aforesaid methods are used independently or in conjunction with one and other.
