Leathers or sweat bands are rendered greaseproof by the application thereto of a smooth glossy coating or impregnation of a transparent and non-staining nitro-cellulose composition consisting of nitro-cellulose dissolved in acetone, amyl acetate, methylated spirit, butyl acetate and the like, without softening agents such as camphor or castor oil.
