Abstract

A bag is formed with two equal and opposite sides (1, 2) of rectangular shape joined by two equal and opposite sides (3, 4) of triangular shape, one side (1) being formed with an extension (5) secured to the other side (2) to form the bottom of the bag, the triangular sides (3, 4) being folded (3a, 4a) to allow the bag to be collapsed for storage and extended for use, the said one side (1) being formed with a further extension (6) forming a flap adjacent the open top of the bag, and the undersurface (7) of the flap (6) being rendered adhesive to allow the bag to be attached to a supporting horizontal or vertical surface and allow rubbish or other contents to be placed in the bag which may be disposable or re-usable. <IMAGE>

Description

DESCRIPTION IMPROVEMENTS IN AND RELATING TO BAGS This invention relates to bags and particularly but not exciussively to bags formed of paper or plastics material and for use as disposable containers for rubbish.
An object of the present invention is to provide a bag of paper or plastics material which is adapted such as to adhere to a surface to support the bag and its contents.
The bag may be of any required shape and provided with an adhesive surface to allow the bag to be adhered to a surface and to be removed therefrom when full.
Thus, according to the invention there is provided a bag of paper or plastics material provided with a flap adjacent the edge defining the opening in the bag, said flap being treated on one surface thereof to allow the flap to adhere to a supporting surface and to be removed therefrom when required, such as when the bag is full for disposal of the contents or both the bag and contents.
The invention will be described by way of example only with particular reference to the accompanying informal drawing wherein: Figure 1 shows one form of bag in the fully extended state whilst; Figure 2 shows the bag of Figure 1 formed with folds along two opposite sides to allow the bag to be collapsed to a flat state for storage purposes and to be opened out as shown for use.
Referring to the drawings the bag is formed with two equal and opposite sides 1 and 2 of rectangular shape joined by two equal and opposite sides 3 and 4 of triangular shape, the side 1 being formed with an extension 5 which is secured to the side 2 to form the bottom of the bag as shown in Figure 2. The sides 3 and 4 are folded at 3a, 4a as shown to allow the bag to be collapsed for storage and extended as shown for use.
The side 1 of the bag is formed with a further extension 6 at the end remote from the extension 5; the extension 6 forming a flap adjacent the open top of the bag. The undersurface 7 of the flap 6 is rendered adhesive by coating it with a low tac adhesive or by attaching thereto a peel-off adhesive strip or by any other means to allow the undersurface to be attached to any surface such as a vertical wall surface or a horizontal working surface or any other surface such as to support the bag and allow rubbish or other contents to be placed in the bag. When the bag is full, the flap 6 can be removed from the supporting surface and either the bag and its contents disposed of, or merely the contents disposed of and the bag retained and replaced on the supporting surface for further use.
It will be appreciated that the bag shown in the drawing is merely an example of one form of bag which may be used in the present invention. The invention is not limited to the particular shape of bag shown in the drawing. The bag may be of any shape or construction and may be of paper, plastics or any other suitable material. The adhesive may be in the form of a peel-off strip or the undersurface of the flap 6 may be coated with a low tac adhesive similar to that used for self-sealing envelopes, but any form of adhesive may be used and as previously indicated, the bag may be disposable or re-usable as required.

Claims (5)

1. A bag e.g. of paper or plastics material provided with a flap adjacent the edge defining the opening in the bag, said flap being treated on one surface thereof to allow the flap to adhere to a supporting surface and to be removed therefrom when required, such as when the bag is full for disposal of the contents or both the bag and contents.
'
2. A bag as claimed in claim 1 and formed with two equal and opposite sides of rectangular shape joined by two equal and opposite sides of triangular shape, one of the sides being formed with an extension which is secured to the other side to form the bottom cf the bag, the triangular sides being folded to allow the bag to be collapsed for storage and extended for use, said one of the rectangular sides being formed with a further extension remote from the first mentioned extension and forming said flap adjacent the top of the bag, the undersurface of the flap being rendered adhesive to allow the flap to adhere to a supporting surface and to be removed therefrom.
3. A bag as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the undersurface of the flap is rendered adhesive by coating with a low tac adhesive.
4. A bag as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the undersurface of the flap is rendered adhesive by attaching thereto a peel-off adhesive strip.
5. A bag substantially as hereinbefore described and as shown in the accompanying drawing.
