Abstract
A barbeque igniting device comprising ventilated tubule divided by a wire mesh grid into a charcoal chamber and a combustion chamber. Charcoal is placed on top of this wire mesh grid with crumpled newspaper underneath. When the paper is lit, a rapid ignition of the charcoal is obtained, which is then tipped onto the barbeque. <IMAGE>
Description
BARBEQUE IGNITING DEVICE
This invention relates to a barbeque igniting device.
Barbeques are notorious for being difficult to light, with most people using wood, lighter fluid, paraffin or fire lighters. All of these are smelly, smokey or dangerous.
These methods also take a long time to ignite the charcoal, this means that barbeques need to be lit a long time before any food can be cooked. This device is a means of lighting a barbeque very quickly and with the absolute minimum of smoke, smell or danger.
This invention will be a tubular structure made of mild steel with some specifically placed holes to encourage a draught and with a wire mesh grid on the inside onto which the charcoal to be ignited is stacked. There will be a handle fitted onto the side to enable the device to be lifted safely when hot.
Referring to the drawings Figures 1, 2 and 3

Claims (5)
1. The barbeque lighting device is a very simple unit for
lighting any type of charcoal barbeque. It provides a
means of lighting without resorting to the use of any
form of dangerous firelighter ie. wood, paraffin,
firelighters or any type of liquid firelighting
fluid. All that is required to light a charcoal
barbeque is crumpled newspaper.
2. The barbeque igniting device as claimed in Claim 1 is
very easy to assemble from the supplied parts, needing
only ten small screws with nuts and washers to assemble
the unit.
3. Once assembled the barbeque igniting device as claimed
in Claims 1 and 2, is ready for use with any type of
charcoal barbeque. After use it can be disassembled
for storage or left in its assembled state for further
use.
4. The barbeque igniting device as claimed in Claims 1, 2
and 3 is prepared and lit in the following manner:
The top of the unit is filled with lumpwood charcoal
Fig. 3 (H), the bottom part of the unit contains
crumpled newspaper Fig. 3 (I).
The prepared unit is placed on the barbeque that is to
be lit, the newspaper is set alight and after a very
short time, just a few minutes, the charcoal in the
unit will be red hot and glowing. This is then tipped
onto the barbeque and is ready for cooking. If a
larger fire is required charcoal can be added to this
or more can be prepared in the manner previously
described.
5. The barbeque igniting device as claimed in Claims 1, 2,
3 and 4 is so designed with a simplicity to enable even
an inexperienced barbeque owner to effect a completely
efficient lighting of their equipment.
