Description
COMBINED STAND AND CONTAINER DEVICE FOR A MICROPHONE
The invention relates to a container device for a microphone, more particularly to a combined stand and container device for a microphone.
Figure 1 is an illustration of a conventional container device for a microphone. While such a container device is handy and protects the microphone when it is not in use, the container device has limited other functions.
Therefore, the objective of the present invention is to provide a container device for a microphone that has enhanced functionality, i.e., the container device also serves as a support stand for the microphone.
Accordingly, the preferred embodiment of a combined stand and container device for a microphone comprises a container having an upper panel, a lower panel, a first peripheral wall surrounding the upper panel, and a second peripheral wall surrounding the lower panel. The first and second peripheral walls respectively extend from the upper and the lower panels in opposite directions and have marginal portions detachably fitted to one another to form an enclosure. The position of the first peripheral wall relative to the second peripheral wall can be selectively changed. The height of the first peripheral wall relative to the upper panel gradually decreases such that a first wall part of the first peripheral wall is taller than a second opposite wall part of the same.The height of the second peripheral wall relative to the lower panel gradually decreases such that a fourth wall part of the second peripheral wall is taller than a third opposite wall part of the same. The upper panel is substantially horizontal when the first wall part coincides with the third wall part. The upper panel is inclined when the first wall part coincides with the fourth wall part.
The upper panel has 3 through hole. The combined stand and container device further comprises a microphone stand assembly including a microphone handle sleeve and a rod support means for detachably securing the microphone handle sleeve to the upper panel at the through hole. The microphone has a handle portion which is sleeved in the microphone handle sleeve when the combined stand and container device is used as a microphone support. When in use, the combined stand and container device of the present invention can be placid on a level surface or mounted on a vertical wall.
Other features and advantages of this invention will become apparent in the following detailed description of the preferred embodiment with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is an illustration of a conventional container device for a microphone;
Figure 2 is an exploded view of the preferred embodiment of a combined stand and Container device according to the present invention;
Figure 3 is a sectional view showing how a microphone is disposed inside the preferred embodiment when not in use;
Figure 4 is a top schematic view of the assembled preferred embodiment as shown in Figure 3;
Figure 5 illustrates the preferred embodiment of the present invention when used as a support stand for a microphone;
Figure 6 is an illustration of the assembled preferred embodiment when mounted on a wall; and
Figure 7 is an illustration of the preferred embodiment when attached to a loudspeaker casing.
Referring to Figure 2, the preferred embodiment of a combined stand and container device according to the present invention is shown to comprise a container having an upper casing half 10 and a lower casing half 20.
The upper casing half 10 comprises a substantially rectangular upper panel 11 having a substantially transverse peripheral wall 12 surrounding the upper panel 11. The height of the peripheral wall 12 relative to the upper panel 11 gradually decreases from a wall part 121 of the peripheral wall 12 to an opposite wall part 122 of the same. The wall part 121 is thus taller than the wall part 122. The panel 11 is formed with a through hole 113 disposed near the wall part 121. The wall parts 121 and 122 of the peripheral wall 12 are each provided with an engaging hook 13.
The lower casing half 20 similarly comprises a substantially rectangular lower panel 21 having a substantially transverse peripheral wall 22 surrounding the lower panel 21. The height of the peripheral wall 22 relative to the lower panel 21 gradually increases from a wall part 221 of the peripheral wall 22 to an opposite wall part 222 of the same. The wall part 222 is thus taller than the wall part 221. The peripheral walls 12 and 22 respectively extend from the upper and lower panels 11 and 21 in opposite directions. The wall parts 221 and 222 of the peripheral wall 22 are each provided with a receiving groove 23 to detachably engage the hooks 13 of the upper casing half 10, thereby forming an enclosure.The upper casing half 10 can engage the lower casing half 20 in two possible positions: Referring to Figure 3, the hooks 13 engage the receiving grooves 23 such that wall part 121 of the upper casing half 10 coincides with wall part 221 of the lower casing half 20 (wall part 122 is coincident with wall part 222). The upper panel 11 is therefore in a substantially horizontal position. Referring to
Figure 5, the hooks 13 engage the receiving grooves 23 such that wall part 121 of the upper casing half 10 coincides with wall part 222 of the lower casing half 20 (wall part 122 is coincident with wall part 221).
The upper panel 11 is therefore in an inclined position.
Referring once more to Figure 2, the lower casing half 20 has a predetermined number of pairs of spaced protrusions 26 (Figure 2 shows two pairs of protrusions 26) projecting from the lower panel 21 in the direction of the peripheral wall 22. A pair of substantially Ushaped semi-circular support members 27 and 28 have oppositely disposed engaging grooves 271 and 281, respectively. Each of the engaging grooves 271 and 281 receives the tip of one of the protrusions 26. Support member 28 is wider than support member 27. Referring to
Figures 3 and 4, when a microphone A is not in use and is properly placed inside the combine stand and container device of the preferred embodiment, the head
Al of the microphone A rests on the support member 28 while the handle A2 of the microphone A rests on the support member 27. The microphone cable A3 of the microphone A is unplugged from the handle A2 and is properly arranged in the lower casing half 20 adjacent to the microphone -A.
Referring again to Figure 2, the lower panel 21 is formed with a plurality of hollow hump projections 29 which receive rbber stubs 29a. The rubber stubs 29a support the lower panel 21 on a level surface (such as a table). The lower panel 21 is thus elevated and not in danger of becoming damp and moist should water or other liquids is accidentally spilled on the table surface. Each of the hump projections 29 has a through hole 291. The rubber stubs 29a can be detached from the hump projections 29 to permit the mounting of the lower casing half 20 on a vertical wall B by means of screws
C passing through the through hole 291 of the hump projections 29 (as shown in Figure 6).
Referring to Figures 2 and 4, the preferred embodiment further comprises a microphone stand assembly 30 which includes a microphone handle sleeve 31, a tubular rod support 32, and an engaging member 33. Referring to Figures 2 and 5, the engaging member 33 has a threaded end 331 which extends through the threaded hole 113 of the upper casing half 10 and mates with an internally threaded end 321 of the rod support 32. The rod support 32 is thus secured to the upper casing half 10. An externally threaded end 322 of the rod support 32 engages internal threads (not shown) provided on the handle sleeve 31. As shown in Figure 5, the upper casing half 10 engages the lower casing half 20 such that the upper panel 11 is inclined. The handle
A2 of the microphone A is then sleeved in the handle sleeve 31. The inclining of the upper panel 11 allows the head Al of the microphone A to be properly dire;: wed towards the user's mouth.
The combined stand and container device of the present invention allows easy and proper positioning of the microphone A on a table or lectern. This set-up is convenient and ideal for press conferences or when giving speeches or lectures.
Referring to Figures 2 and 7, the portion 222 of the peripheral wall 22 of the lower casing half 20 is provided with engaging grooves 223. The engaging grooves 223 detachably receive projections 41 provided on the casing of a loudspeaker 40.
