Abstract

A sight, for attachment at 2 to a bow, includes a light source 9 which is visible by an archer looking into the other (filter 12) end of tube 10. The tube is carried by a disc 8 pivotable about a horizontal axis by distance-setting knob 5. Sight casing 1 is formed with windows 3 and 4. The lateral position of the disc/tube assembly is adjustable by means of spacers 18, 19. <IMAGE>

Description

LIGHT ASSISTED ARCHERY SIGHT This invention relates to a light assisted archery sight.
Archery sights comprise of one or more sight pins mounted at variable positions on the bow, with or without apertures or inserts. Aiming a bow relies on the position of the archers eye to the anchor point of the string and his/her skill in aligning the string to the sight pin or pins.
Therefore accuracy of shot is affected by many variables.
According to the present invention, the light assisted archery sight comprises of an adjustable mounting attached to a transparent ended enclosure in which is provided the means to produce a visible light source coupled to a small bore tube and optical filter, this sub-assembly is mounted on bearings and can be adjusted in the vertical rotational ayis and laterally.
specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 shows by cut aX;ay sections the light assisted sight In perspective.
Figure 2 illustrates the sight mounted on the bow.
figure 3 shows a view as seen by the archer when using a bow fitted with the light assisted sight.
Referring to the drawing Pig.l, the light assisted archery sight comprises an enclosure 1, which can be attached to a bow by means of an adjustable bracket assembly 2, which gives multi axis adjustment enabling initial settings and distance settings for the sight.
The enclosure 1, has a transparent window 3, facing forwards of the bow and 4, backwards. On one side of the enclosure there is an adjustable knob 5, connected to an internal sub assembly consisting of parts 7 & & & 10 & 1 & 2.
The sub assembly consists of parts 7 & 1, the shafts, on bearings 13, the shafts being connected to a central disc 8, on this is mounted the visible light source 9 and the small bore tube 1O,.At the end of this tube is a filter 12,.The knob 5, connected to the internal sub assembly is able to rotate in the vertical axis and is- adjustable laterally by means of spacers 18 & 9. In the base of the enclosure 1, there is- a power source 14, which is linked to a switch 15, by wiring 16,.Another flexible loom 17, links the switched supply to the internal sub assembly of parts 7 & & & 0S11 & 2.
On the outside of the enclosure 1, and around the knob 5, there is a set of adjustment marks 20, If needed, another set of marks can be put on the vertical height setting of assy. 2.

Claims (7)

1. A light assisted archery sight comprising an adjustable
mounting attached to a transparent ended enclosure in which is provided the means to produce a visible light source coupled to a small bore tube and optical filter, this sub assembly is mounted on bearings and can be adjusted in the vertical rotational axis and laterally.
The adjustable mounting can be equipped with a scale in the vertical plane.
2. A light assisted archery sight as claimed in claim 1.
wherein the light source can only be seen from behind the bow ie. only the archer.
3. A light assisted archery sight as claimed in claim 1, or claim 2, wherein the tubular sub assembly when adjusted by knob, handle, or servo, can be scaled.
4. Ç light assisted archery sight as claimed in claim 1, or claim2,or claim 3, wherein the lateral movement is scaled.
5. A light assisted archery sight as claimed in claim 1, or claim 2, or claim 3, or claim 4, wherein a visible light source is used as a reference point for aiming a bow.
6. A light assisted archery sight as claimed in claim 1, or claim 2, or claim 3, or claim 4, or claim 5, which can be attached to a bow.
7. A light assisted archery sight substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1 to 3.
