Abstract

A hand and finger protector for batting comprises an impact resistant shield located in front of the bat handle and maintained in its required position by its central section 3 fitting tightly around the base of the bat handle and its lower section being releasibly secured to the back of the upper region of the bat blade. <IMAGE>

Description

BATS-PERSONS HAND AND FINGER PROTECTOR This invention relates to a hand and finger protector used in conjunction with a boat or racquet.
Ball games where the ball is either made of hard material of moving at high velocity require the bats-person to wear protective gloves to prevent injuries to the hand and fingers.
Unfortunately the protection offered by gloves is not complete and damage to hand and/or fingers is not uncommon, hence the need for more effective protection.
According to the present invention this is provided by a Hand Protector so moulded as to fit over the handle of a bat and, by virtue of the shape, remain secure, allowing the handle to be gripped by a gloved hand, dissipating the force of any blows into the glove and the bat itself. A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which Figures 1 and 2 show in perspective, plan, side and end elevation a Hand Protector so moulded as to fit a cricket bat.
Referring to the drawing the cricket bat handle is passed through the hole designated 3 and the Hand Protector lowered down the handle until it rests securely at the bottom of the handle with the part designated 1 to the rear of the batting surface and the part designated 2 at the base of the forward part of the handle. The Protector is then secure when held in the batting position. When not in use or for added security a strap or elastic band can be placed around the top of the playing surface and over the part designated 1 to hold the Hand Protector in position. For removal the above procedure is reversed.

Claims (1)

  1. CLAINS
    (1) A Hand protector so moulded as to fit over the handle of a bat and, by virtue of the shape, remain secure allowing the handle to be gripped by a gloved hand and dissipate the force of any blows into the glove and the bat itself.
    (2) A Hand Protector as claimed in Claim (1) requiring no mechanical connection to the bat or racquet.
    (3) A Hand Protector as claimed in Claim (1) using a band for added security of attachment.
    (4) A Hand Protector as claimed in Claim (1) using Velcro (Registered Trade Mark) type fastening for added security of attachment.
    (5) A Hand Protector as described in Claim (1) covered in a shock absorbing foam to prevent damage to the ball.
    (6) A Hand Protector substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawings.
