Abstract

The cover is electronically alarmed, light weight and capable of being locked and fixed both to a ruck sack (Fig. 3, not shown) and any other immovable object. This will afford security from theft of the ruck sack. The cover can be used whilst the ruck sack is being carried and is fully adjustable to fit most shapes of ruck sack. The cover incorporates electrical loops 2, 10, 11, 14 which are closed, via conductors 7 when the cover is secured around a ruck sack using a draw string 14 and a strap 1. The loop in the draw string is connected to a ring 15 which is passed through an eyelet in the strap and D-rings 4 before being secured by a padlock which completes the alarm circuit. <IMAGE>

Description

WATERPROOF RUCK SACK S@CURITY COVER.
This invention relates to a Waterproof Security Cover which encloses a Ruck Sack and can b used to fix the Ruck Sack to an immovable object. The cover and its parts can be protected by an electronic alarm circuit.
A Ruck Sack is a light weight bag primarily used to convey luggage, usually on ones back.
Ruck Sacks are usually made of heavy duty scuff resistant material, which may have water resisting qualities, A Ruck Sack usually has numerous compartments, (Pockets) sealed bg means of zips and fasteners.
The Ruck Sack is open to interference from unauthorized persons and theft.
csorin to the present invention an electronic alarm is contained within a waterproof cover made from a lightweight scuff resistant, outdoor atial.
The cover is tightened around any Ruck Sack by means of a draw string and locked in position by a padlock. The padlock activates 2 switch which activates the alarm. A security strap fixed to the cover allows te cover and its contents to be locked to any other object.
The cover prevents access to all sets of zips or fasteners on the Ruck Sack and may be adjusted to allow the use of the Buck Sack shoulder and waist straps whilst the cover is in position.
The electronic alarm protects all parts of the Ruck Sack Cover, and emits a short duration "Bleep" when activated and a continuous alarm when tripped.
A specific example of the invention will now be described in detail, with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1. Illustrates a plan view of the underside of the Ruck Sack Cover, showing part of the electronic alarm circuit.
Figure 2. Illustrates a plan view of the Outer of the Ruck Sack Cover, showing pats of the alarm circuit.
Figure 3. Illustrates the Ruck Sack Cover when fitted over a Ruck Sack and shows the method of fitting.
Figure 4. This shows the electronic circuit diagram.
Please read figures in conjunction with numbered Key.
The cover is placed with the side illustrated in figure 1 against the Ruc': Sack and the draw string 14 is tightened to gather the cover around the Ruck Sack as illustrated in figure 3. The draw string is then kept taut by positioning toggle 13.
The excess draw string 14 is then laced through tile eyelets 12, to further tighten the cover against the Ruck Sack. The Rack Sack Straps can be covered or left exposed for use.
The draw string 14 is then passed through one of the eyelets in the adjustable tightening strap 19 and pulled down to be cor.nacted with the 'D' rings 17. The hole chosen ir the tightening strap 19 depends upon the length of excess draw string. The draw string must be taut when it connects with the 'D' rings 17.
When ring 15 in the draw string is aligned with the 'D' rings 17 and ordinary padlock 20 is passed through all three. This secures the cover and activates the alarm circuit by connecting the two 'D' rings.
A short activating bleep will sound when the connection is made, The cover and all its associated straps are now alarmed and the sounder will sound a continuous tone if any parts of the cover is cut.
To secure the Cover and its contents to any other object, the adjustable Security Strap 1 can ba passed round oz through another object, then secured at its appropriate eyelet 3 by connecting to the padlock assembly at 17.
An advantage to tis Security Strap is that it contains an independent closed loop alarm circuit 2 and therefore need not be returned to the padlock assembly, but could be locked against itself via a second padlock giving extra reach.
THE ELECTRONIC ALARM CIRCUIT. (See Figures 1, 2, and 4) The alarm circuit is based on a number of closed loops connecting to a Central Box 5, containing the electronics, Sounder and an 9 volt dy cell battery. The Alarm Circuit is activated by shorting the only open loop 7 on the circuit across the 'D' rings 17, with the padlock 20. This acts as a switch an activates all other closed loops 2, 10, 11, 14, within the cover0 The alarm mill give a short "bleep" to indicate it is activated, If any of the closed loops are cut a continuous alarm will sound.
The Ruck Sack cannot be removed fron the cover and the cover is secured to another object effectively making the Ruck Sack secure.
