Abstract

224,387. Clements, A. B. Nov. 29, 1923. Turning.-In a boring and facing machine of the kind in which a hollow spindle containing a boring-bar is provided with a head across which a tool-slide may be traversed, the slide 4 is made of @-shape so as to have a bearing on guide-ways 5, 6 and to accommodate the spindle 3 in the angle between its limbs. The guide 5 is bevelled at the upper edge to receive a similarly-bevelled part of the slide and the guide 6 is bevelled at its lower edge to receive a similarly-bevelled member 11 which is adjustably secured to the slide to take up wear. An adjusting wedge of rectangular cross-section is inserted between faces 9, 10 on the guide-way 5 and on the slide respectively.
