Abstract

A weathershield comprises a consertina folded board which, when opened, covens a vehicle windscreen (inside or out) and also folds to fit the rear window. Its design enables the shield to fit varying sizes of windscreens and rear windows in height and width. In summer when the shield is opened and placed inside the vehicle windscreen, it reflects the sun's ultra violet rays and therefore keeps the inside of the vehicle cool. In the winter when the shield is opened and placed outside the vehicle windscreen, all ice, frost and snow lays onto the shield and does not come into contact with the windscreen. When shaken all deposits will fall away. The shield can also be reversed and folded in such a way that it fits into the rear window. Once in position it displays a luminous warning sign for those vehicles which have broken down. <IMAGE>

Description

WEATHERSHIELD.
This invention relates to a multi-purpose Weathershield for motorized vehicles.
This shield comprises of a consertina folded board which, when opened, covers a vehicle windscreen (inside and out) and also folds to fit the rear window.
In summer when the shield is opened and placed inside the vehicle windscreen, it reflects the sun's ultra violet rays and therefore keeps the inside of the vehicle cool.
In winter when the shield is opened and placed outside the vehicle windscreen, all ice, frost and snow lays onto the shield and does not come into contact with the windscreen. When shaken all deposits will fall away.
The shield can also be reversed and folded in such a way that it fits into the rear window. Once in position it displays a luminous warning sign for those vehicles which have broken down.
The 3 objectives of the unit are achieved by using a strong lightweight material which has been U.V. Varnished and then heat folded into a compact manageable size.
A specific embodiment of the unit will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings which: Figure 1 shows the overall perspective of the unit.
Figure 2 illustrates its folding action.
Figure 3 shows the compact folded unit.
Figure 4 identifies the method used to fit the varying sizes of vehicle windscreens and rear windows.
Referring to the drawing the unit comprises of a varying number of sections dependant on the end use. All of these sections are of equal size, except the middle two panels. These two have a piece cut out which measures Iflcms from the top (as shown on figure 1.) All of these sections have a fold heat creased into them. This measures 1ohms from the bottom of the weathershield.
For storage and ease of use the unit folds away (figure 2). The lightweight material is simply pushed together from the two ends, this action operates the concertina heat folding and the unit folds into its finished storage position as in figure 3. To open the unit reverse this action and sequence.
In order that the unit fits the varying sizes of vehicle windscreens figure 4. the black areas (1), (2), and (3) fold either way to reduce the width and height of the unit.
In most European vehicles the rear window is much smaller than the windscreen. When the warning sign needs to be displayed (figure 4), section (1) and (3) are folded back. Sections (2) the 10cm bottom piece is then folded backward and up.
This action will create a base for the sign to sit on, and at the same time the bottom folding creates a springed forward pressure against the window, securing it into position.
Where the unit is required for use at the rear window to reflect the sun's rays, simply repeat this sequence with the warning sign inward and the 'normal' design facing outward.

Claims (6)

1. A weathershield comprises of a strong, flexible material, which is light weight and reflects the sun's heat. This weathershield's design is consertina heat folded into a compact manageable size, and opens to fit various vehicle windscree8 sizes.
2. A weathershield as claimed in Claim 1. is coated with U.V. varnish and sealed, to protect the material from moisture resulting from the elements when in external use.
3. A weathershield as claimed in Claim 1. and 2. stops vehicle windscreens and rear windows from icing up and being covered by snow.
4. A weathershield as claimed in any preceding claim is design folded so that it can be used in small areas, such as rear windows, with the fold creation of a base for the shield to sit on.
5. A weathershield as claimed in Claim 4. is provided with a folding mechanism which creates a forward pressure against the window securing it into position.
6. A weathershield substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-4 of the accompanying drawing.
