Abstract

A plant container watering system has an integrated water reservoir 6 below a plant container 1. Inserted through the reservoir is a spring loaded pump 14 operated by a push/pull and release action which supplies water via pipe/s 5 & 10 and valve/s 7 & 8 from the water reservoir 6 to outlet nozzle/s 3 over and onto the soil. In the push action mode protection against soil entering the moving parts is provided by a sleeve or casing about pump handle 12 and sealed by rubbers to prevent leakage of water from the pump 14 during use. Draining holes 13 located in a convenient position through the reservoir 6 allows excess water to return from the plant container 1 to the reservoir. The container may have hooks 2 whereby it can be suspended. <IMAGE>

Description

PLANT CONTAINER WATERING SYSTEM This invention relates to a plant container watering system At present containers are watered either by hosepipe, watering can or capillary action resevoir or more expensively, computor irrigation.
Most of these systems require water to continously be brought to the plant and as a result are quite labour intensive. In the case of capillary action resevoirs watering is achieved from below resulting in the lower half of the container being saturated with water and insufficient reaching the top soil.
According to the present invention there is provided a plant container watering system comprising an intergrated water resevoir housing a spring loaded pump/s, means for operating the pump/s in the form of handle/s by push/pull and release action. Water will be pumped from the resevoir via a pipe/s and valve/s to an outlet nozzle/s.
The handle/s in the push action mode are protected by a sleeve or casing to prevent soil and debris entering the moving parts. Sealing rubbers are fitted at the base of the sleeve or casing preventing any water leakage from the pump during use. Drainage holes conveniently located allow excess water to return to the resevoir. A refill inlet/spout positioned at or near the top of the resevoir allows the resevoir to be refilled.
Fig. 1. shows the container above the resevoir into which it will fit.
Fig. 2. illustrates the spring loaded pump in pull and release action mode, entry and exit pipe/s and valve/s Fig.3. shows the drainage outlets at the base of the container and outlet nozzles.
Fig.4. illustrates the spring loaded pump reversed in push and release action mode, entry and exit pipe/s and valve/s, casing and casing rubbers Referring to the drawing the plant container watering system consists of a mesh container 1 fitted into a resevoir 6 and pump 14 consisting of a piston 9 spring 11 and handle 12,draws water from the resevoir 6 through an inlet pipe 10 and valve 8 and pushes it up through valves 7 and outlet pipe 5 through nozzles 3 into the top of the plant container 1. The protection sleeve 15 protects the working parts from soil and debris and sealing rubbers prevent any leakage of water from the pump.
Situated at the top of the resevoir 6 by the side of the pump 14 are drainage outlets 13 allowing excess water to return to the resevoir 6. Refill inlet 4 allows the resevoir to be refilled with water and hooks 2 may be fitted to enable the plant container to be hung overhead.

Claims (3)

1. A plant container watering system comprising an integrated water resevoir housing, a spring loaded pump/s, means for operating the pump/s in the form of a handle/s by push/pull and release action.
2. A plant container watering system as claimed in Claim 1 herein, Strac'nments 2 are provided to enable the system to hang.
3. A plant container watering system substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-4 of the accompanying drawing.
3 A plant container watering system substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1 - 4 of the accompanying drawing.
Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1. A plant container watering system specifically designed to be intergrated with or attached to a hanging basket or a hanging plant container comprises a water reservoir housing a spring loaded pump wherein a means for operating the pump in the form of a handle or cord or alike by a push/pull and release action causing water to flow from the reservoir via pipe/s and valve/s to an outlet nozzle/s above the soil wherein excess water may drain through into valved drainage chambers located within the reservoir and then back into the reservoir.
2. A plant container watering system as claimed in Claim 1 herein, attachments are provided to enable the system to hang.
