Abstract

A restraint device which is simple to install and easy to operate. The device includes a handle (12) and a foot (18) so shaped for engagement with selectable retaining means (60, 90) with which the device is used, a foot locking member (26), an attached belt (46) and belt locking means (50). A manually operable trigger (40, 80) is provided for simultaneous release of the foot locking member (26) and the belt locking means (50). The device is particularly useful for restraining wheelchairs in motor vehicles, particularly public transport vehicles. <IMAGE>
