Abstract

The system warns the owner if a wallet or purse, or other item is lost or stolen. It includes a credit card shaped radio receiver which, in use, is located in or on the item, and a radio transmitter carried by the owner. The receiver includes a bleeper which is energized when the receiver fails to receive a radio signal due to the distance between the transmitter and receiver becoming excessive. <IMAGE>

Description

WATiIIJ?Tj KEEP' OR PROXIMITY BlESPER FOR PROTECTION AGAINST THERT OR I,OSS OF PERSONAL ITEMS.
The object of the device is to provide a system, whereby the location of the item that requires safe-keeping iB known.
To this effect, the device or devices, consist of two parts.
The first part is shaped like a credit card, although this will be somewhat thicker. The function of this first part is to continuously receive a radio signal. This signal would be intermittant, and may be 'pulsed' at short intervals. The signal would be low strength, and thus would have limited range.
The object of the second part is to act as a transmitter for this signal.
The first part is an audible bleeper, and starts to bleep when it can no longer receive the radio signal from the second part. The close proximity of the first part to the second part, prevents the first part from bleeping.
The signal strength of the radio signal is such that it would have very limited range, possibly only one or two metres. The signal would be individual to each device, such that the close proximity of other people's systems would not interact with the user's, and prevent the bleeper from working in the event of signal/range loss.
To this effect, then, since the receiver is credit card shaped, the most likely use is for it to be- inserted into a wallet or purse, although there is scope for attachment to other items, and a hole is provided for this purpose.
The second part may be clipped to the user's pocket, or attached to other items via the ring, as shown in Fig 1.
The battery supply for this device is to be of the long life (Lithium) type, or of a suitable size and shape of other kinds. It is proposed that the first, or bleeper, part, would bleep when any of the batteries start to run low, and it is probable that the audio (bleep) function would have its own battery, seperate to its receiving circuitry.
A switch may be provided on each part of the device, so that the hattery life may be extended when there is no danger of theft or loss. It may be a provision that some other use be provided by the credit card receiver; ie. a calculator may be incorporated, possibly solar-powered, to save battery power, and or space.
When in use, the transmitter would probably be worn in a pocket, and the credit card receiver would be inside a wallet or purse. If the wearer of the transmitter goes;inTho'rethantbe range limit away from the wallet, the transmitter will activate after the signal pulse time has elapsed, The pulse time of the signal would probably be about two seconds or so.
1. Prevents personal items, such as wallets etc. from being lost or stolen, without the owner's knowledge.
2. Will identify a pickpocket ie. street bumping/distraction theft.
Deters peckpocketing, since would-be culprits risk potential victims using the system.
4. sleeper doubles as low cell indicator.
5 Credit card shape fits easily into purse or wallet.
6. Both parts have facilities for attachment to other items.
7. Bleeper may be used to 'home in' on mislaid wallet etc~ 8. Increased battery life due to intermittant pulsing of credit card transmitter signal.
9 Allows the user peace of mind, since the proximity of important personal items is known.
10. Will ensure the location of batches of, or individual credit or bank cards.
11. Will fit in pouches of wallets or purses, or cheque book holders.
Specifically: designed to hold credit or bank cards.
12 . will allow the owner of the wallet our purse to locate the device in the dark , or warn of theft tn the dark,

Claims (5)
