Abstract
A R.E.L. has a main body (1) which is tapered at the bottom and is provided separately with lids (3) and tops (7), so that the main bodies can be stacked nested on top of each other for ease of transportation and storage. The parts for assembly are provided separately. When transported to the site they can either be assembled or left nested together for storage. To assemble, top (7) is positioned, then secured by hammer screws, then the hinge bar of lid (3) is placed into open lugs (2), which are hammered shut around the hinge bar. The lid may be spring-loaded as by spring-latch (6). <IMAGE>
Description
R.E.L. (RISER END LOADING) WASTE CONTAINERS.
KNOCK ON LIDS AND TOPS. (WELD FREE.)
For many years R.E.L. waste containers have had to have lids and tops of the container welded together along with the frame and body. This making the transporation of the container very awkward due to its shape and size.
Already 'skip' type containers have been transported stacked inside each other as figure 4 but having no lids or tops this was easily done. Each R.E.L. has one top and one lid to be welded on in position.
Thus there is a need to stack R.E.L.'s inside each other as per skips to decrease transporation costs, storage and maintenance costs.
This method consists of top plates being fixed by 'hammer drive' screws into holes into body. Lids are to be secured in position using split hinge lugs which are already welded to the body, the lid is then placed in position in the hinge lugs and then hammered over to secure. The hinge springs for tensioning are secured in position using split pins.
Normally this is done 'in house' by welding but can now be done 'on site' as a
Kit Form.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1, Show in perspective, the R.E.L. with top (7) and lid (3)
ready to be fixed in position.
Figure 2, Shows 'knock - over' hinge lug.
Referring to the drawing a complete.E.L. consists of:
(1) Main Body
(2) Hinge Lugs
(3) Zinged Lid
(4) Hammer Drive Screws
(5) Cotter Pin
(6) Spring Latch
(7) Top Lid
2 off hinges (Not Shown)
Handle (For Lid)
4 off Lifting Lugs (not Shown)
The main frame of the body is to be tapered below the R.S.C. line, this is to allow the stacking operation. The containers will normally be transported in 2 or 3 high stacks figure 4. The top one of each stack will be completed with top and lid. The ones on the bottom will be assembled on site by the following method:
The top is to be lifted in position and holes to be located. The hammer
drive screws are then hammered in by no more than a 21b hammer. The hinged
lid is then lifted up and over the lugs into location slots figure 1. The
lugs are then hammered over encapturing the hinge bar in position both sides
as in figure 2.
The final operation is to tension the hinge springs using a small tube fold back hinge into spring latch (6) and insert split pin (5) and split in position figure 3.
