Description

1 14ETHOD FOR SELECTING MODE BY ONE KEY This invention relates generally to a combined camera and video cassette recorder, and more particularly to a method of mode selection by utilising one key in a wire remote controller, to permit the function mode of the camera recorder to be selectively changed.
Generally, a camera recorder which combines a camera and video cassette recorder is provided with a wired remote controller having the same function as the well-known remote release used in a still camera, ie. to prevent any movement of the equipment which - -zc,,, A occur on pre-ssing a function key on equipment itself for taking a photograph.
The wire remote controller of the prior art used when the camera recorder is to be stopped temporarily during recording and is then to resume its recording after temporary motion performs repeatedly and alternately the recording and the temporary stop function (i.e. pause mode) each time the key on the remote controller is pressed.
However, the conventional wire remote controller cannot perform any operation other than these recording and temporary stop functions, the construction for this being shown in Fig. 1.
1 1 A k 1 2 As shown in Fig. 1, the wire remote controller 10 consists of a function key Kl, a light emitting diode LED f or displaying the recording state, and a jack l0a.
The remote controller 10 is connected when required to a socket 20a of the camera recorder 20 by the jack 10a, so that the camera recorder 20 receives the input signal from the function key K1, and then performs the predetermined operation in the circuit portion 20c of the camera recorder, thereby driving the transistor Ql by the output of the microprocessor 20b.
Thus, the conventional wire remote controller performing only the -record and pause functions is used by connecting the LED driving voltage, the key input and ground wires to the camera recorder 20 respectively.
However, with this construction, if the wire remote controller were to be provided with further function keys so as to perform various additional functions such as reproduce (PLAY), fast forward (FF), rewind (REW), standstill (STILL), etc, the number of connecting wires which would have to be connected to the jack 10a would be six or seven, not three.
Accordingly, since larger, specially made connecting wires, jacks 10a and sockets 20a would be i 1 4 t 1 k i 'I 1 1 1 1 1 1 j i 3 necessary the wire remote controller cannot in practice perform multi- function but is limited to the recording and temporary stop functions.
In addition, the camera recorder which is for performing the multi-function by using the integrated circuit results in a high cost.
It is an object of this invention to provide a method of mode selection using a single key, by which it is possible to select between various modes such as PLAY, FF, REW, STILL, REC, CHECK by operating the single key of a wire remote controller without the need to increase the number of connecting wires.
For achieving the above object, the present invention comprises the first process for changing the present mode into the temporary stop, stop, record or reproduce mode, after reading the present mode when pressing the one key one time; the second process for changing the present mode into the fast forward mode or forward picture search mode after reading the present mode state when pressing the one key two times; the third process for changing the present mode into the rewind mode or reverse picture search mode after reading the present mode when pressing the one key three times; and the fourth process for changing the present mode into the standstill picture mode, or the record check mode after reading whether one key is 11 x,k 4 pressed the predetermined time or more, and reading the present mode.
In the detailed description of the preferred embodiment of the invention presented below, reference 5 is made to the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is a schematic circuit diagram illustrating the camera recorder connected with a conventional remote controller; Fig. 2 is a timing chart relating to the performance of a mode selecting method in accordance with the present invention; Fig. 3 is a mode changing table illustrating the change in function from the present operational lecting met-hod mode, produced by effect ii. -.-he-.,aode sel in accordance with the present invention; and Fig. 4 is a flow chart illustrating an embodiment of the mode selecting method in accordance with the present invention.
The preferred embodiment of the camera recorder for performing the multi-function mode by utilising the conventional wire remote controller as it is is illustrated in Fig. 1. As shown in Fig. 1. after connection of the single key wired remote controller to the camera 25 recorder 20 through a jack 10a and a socket 20a, the function key K1 can be operated, and the selected 1 1 i 1 1 1 1 1 i k function mode is then recognised in the microprocessor 20b, the transistor Q1 being controlled by the microprocessor 20b to turn the LED ON during the record mode and OFF during the temporary stop mode.
The microprocessor 20b of the camera recorder 20 which detects the pressing of the function key K1 of the controller 10 and allows the light emitting diode LED to be turned on by driving the transistor Q1 controls each function by controlling the circuit portion 20c of the camera recorder.
As mentioned above, according to the present invention, the microprocessor 20b recognises the key input depending upon the pressing of the function key 11 the --requi-re,; K1 and d,:termi.nes (-;;tangr-- accordance with the'present mode.
The timing chart of the function selection by operation of key K1 is shown in Fig. 2 and a mode changing table showing mode changing from the present mode to the predetermined mode according to the key input is shown in Fig. 3.
Referring now to Fig. 2, the input wave form signals a,b,c produced by pressing the key K1 once., twice and three times, respectively, within a predetermined time, and the input wave form signal d produced by pressing the key K1 for at least a predetermined time, are applied to the microprocessor 6 20b which then determines the manner in which the function key K1 has been pressed.
The operation -according to Fig. 3 will be described with reference also to the flow chart shown in Fig. 4. In the following description certain processes are designated by references 1A to D, 2A and B, 3A and B and 4A and B which are not shown in Figure 4, but which are used for the purpose of identification of the processes referred to in the claims.
In step 1, microprocessor 20b checks whether or not key K1 is pressed once.
the answer is YES, and if the present mode is the record mode (REC), a process 1A for changing the present mode into the temporary stop mode (PAUSE) is performed in steps 2 and 3; if the present mode is the temporary stop mode (PAUSE), a process 1B for changing it into the recording mode (REC) is performed in steps 4 and 5.
In the steps 6 to 8, if the present mode is the reproducing mode (PLAY), fast forward mode (FF) or rewind mode (REW), it is changed to the stop mode (STOP) in a process 1C. In the steps 10 to 13 if the present mode is f orward picture search (FPS) mode, reverse picture search (RPS) mode, standstill (STILL) mode or stop mode it is changed to the reproducing V tg k 7 mode (PLAY) in a process 1D.
If, in step 1 the key K1 is not pressed once and if in step 5 the key K1 is not pressed the predetermined N sec or more it is determined in step 16 whether the key K1 is pressed twice.
When the microprocessor 20b recognises in step 16 that the key K1 is pressed twice, then if the present mode, as determined in steps 17 and 18 is the stop or rewind mode, a process 2A is performed in step 19 for changing into the fast forward mode (FF); If the present mode as determined in steps 20 and 21 is the reproducing or RPS mode, a process 2B is performed in step 22 for changing to the FPS mode.
Furthermore, if the key K1 is not pressed twice in step 16 and is not pressed for the predetermined N sec or more in step 23, it is determined in step 24 whether the key K1 is pressed three times.
When the microprocessor 20b recognises that the key Ki is pressed three times in step 24. then if in steps 25 and 26 it is determined that the present mode is the stop or fast forward mode a process 3A is performed in step 27 for changing it into the rewind mode (REW), while, if in steps 28 and 29 it is determined that the present mode is the reproduce or FPS mode, a process 3B is performed in step 30 for changing it into the RPS mode.
f k 0 8 If, in step 24 it is determined that the key K1 is not pressed three times, it is then determined in step 31 whether key K1 is pressed for the predetermined N sec or more.
If at this time it is determined that the key K1 is pressed the predetermined N sec or more, then if the present mode determined in step 32 is the reproducing mode, a process 4A is performed in step 33 for changing it into the standstill mode (STILL), whereas if the present mode determined in step -34 is the temporary stop mode a process 4B is performed in step 35 for changing it into the record check mode.
-- ---As-stated above, the present invention provides a multi-function selecting method by operating the single key of the wire remote controller, which method permits simple selection between the various functions by pressing the key of the wire remote controller and without increasing the required number of the connecting wires of the wire remote controller.
