Description
PILDW BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
It is found that all pillows on the market are fixed in height and so they are only suitable for a certain sleeping pose. According to recent medical reports, an inappropriate pillow will be harmful to the blood circulation and easily hurt the neck of the user.
It is, therefore, an object of the invention to provide a pillow which may obviate and mitigate the above mentioned drawbacks.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to an adjustable pillow.
It is the primary object of the present invention provide a pillow which can be adjusted in height so as to adapt to various sleeping poses of different users.
It is another object of the primary object of the invention to provide a pillow which is simple in construction.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a pillow which is easy to operate.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a pillow which is compact in size.
The novel features which are charcteristics of the invention, togeter with further objects and advangages thereof will be better understood from the following description considered in connection with the accompanied drawings and in which a preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated by way of example. It is to be expressly understood, however, that the drawings are for the purpose of illustration and description only and are not intended as a definition of the limits of the invention.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a pillow according to the present invention;
FIG. 2 is an exploded view of the pillow;
FIG. 3 is a front sectional view of the pillow; and
FIG. 4 is a side secticnal view of the pillow.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
For purposes of promoting an understanding of the principles of the invention, reference will now be made to the embodiment illustrated in the drawings.
Specific language will be used to describe same.
In will, nevertheless, be understood that no limitation of the scope of the invention is thereby intended, such alternations and further modifications in the illustrated device, and such further applications of the principles of the invention as illustrated herein being contemplated as would normally occur to one skilled in the art to which the invention relates.
With reference to the drawings and in particular to Fig. 1 thereof, the pillow according to the present invention mainly comprise a bse 1 formed with a groove 11 around the edges thereof. On the base 1 there are provided four pairs of lugs 12. Two pairs of legs 2 are pivoted on the lugs 12. At the middle portion of each leg 2 is pivotally mounted an arm 3 the other end of which is pivoted to a lug 51 formed on the bottom of a supporting plate 5. Between two legs 2 of each pair there is a U-shaped frame 4 formed at the middle with a threaded hole 41 through which extends an elongated threaded rod 6. A roller 42 is mounted at each end of the two U-shaped frames 4. The bottom side of the supporting frame 5 has two recesses 52 adapted to the rollers 42. On the supporting plate 5 there is a pair of engaging member 53 between which is a projection 54.Four recesses 55 are formed around the four corners of the projection 54. The bottom of a head rest 9 is also formed with recesses 95 corresponding to the recesses 55 so as to fix the springs 10 between the head rest 9 and the supporting plate 5. Further, the head rest 9 is provided at the bottom with two curved grooves 93 and 94 adapted to the engaging members 53.
The head rest 9 has a groove 91 identical to the groove 11 of the base 1. A contractible bellow 8 with a frame 81 at the upper and lower sides is mounted between the head rest 9 and the base 1 with the frames 81 embedded into the groove 91 of the head rest and the groove 11 of the base 1. The bellow 8 has two holes 82 for the passage of the adjusting rod 6 two ends of which are engaged with a cap 61. The rod 6 ie provided with left hand threads 62 and right hand threads 63 so that the U-shaped frames 4 will move along opposite direction when the adjusting rod 6 is turned. In addition, both ends of the rod 6 is supported on the supporting plate 5 by a fixed member 64.
When in use, simply turn the cap 61 to move the
U-shaped frames 4 inwards or outwards. The rollers 42 will rolls on the recesses 52 of the supporting plate 5. Hence the supporting plate 5 will rise as the
U-shaped frames 4 moves inwards but will drop down as the U-shaped frames 4 moves outwards. The head rest 9 may be adjusted in inclination by means of the engaging members 53 and the projection 54 which are used as the fulcrum therefore. Besides, the head rest 9 is mounted on the supporting plate 5 by a pin 97 extending throught a lug 96 and an engaging member 53.
Fig. 4 shows that the head rest 9 will be automatically adjusted in position when pressed so as to adapt to various sleeping poses of different users. It is understood that the head rest 9 may be conveniently formed of wood, ABS, sponge, etc.
Although this invention has been described with a certain degree of particularity, it is understood that present disclosure is made by way of example only and that numerous changes in the construction and the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
