Description

1 PLASTIC FILM SURFACE ROUGHENING DEVICE The present invention relates to
a plastic f ilm surface roughening device for forming minute holes or scratches on a surface of a plastic film.
Conventionally, in order to form minute holes or scratches on a surface of a plastic film, conventionally used is a plastic film surface roughening device in which, as shown in Fig. 1, provided are a surface roughening means 3 and a guide roller 5. The surface roughening means 3 includes a disc 1 and a surface roughening member such as a sandpaper 2 fixed to an outer peripheral surface of the disc with an adhesive. The guide roller 5 is adapted for guiding travel of a plastic film to be surface roughened.
That is, the outer peripheral surface of the surface roughening means 3 for the plastic film is positioned in confrontation with an outer peripheral surface of the guide roller 5, and the surface roughening means 3 is in pressure contact with a surface of the plastic film 4 guided on the guide roller 5 by means of a drive means (not shown). As a result, minute holes or scratches are formed on the surface of the plastic film 4 by the sandpaper 2 in rolling contact therewith.
According to the above described conventional plastic film surface roughening device, the sandpaper 2 is fixed on the outer peripheral surface of the disc 1 by adhesive material so as to roughen the surface of the plastic film. In this case, it has been experimentally acknowledged that consumption rate of the sandpaper 2 due to the falling off the sanding grains is proportional to the surface roughening length of the plastic film. Further, a length of the sandpaper to be adhesively fixed to the disc is subjected to limitation due to the limitation of an outer diameter of the disc 1 since a compact device is required. Accordingly, consumption of the sandpaper is accelerated due to the falling off of the sanding grains, so that the disc must frequently be replaced by a new disc. Furthermore, if a surface roughening width is intended to be changed with respect to the plastic film, the disc must be changed in accordance with the intended width.
The present invention has been established in view of the above described drawbacks and disadvantages, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a plastic film surface roughening device capable of prolonging service life of the surface roughening member or a surface roughening means and capable of replacing a surface roughening member by a new member in accordance with a change in surface roughening width of the plastic film.
These and other objects of the present invention will be attained by providing a plastic film surface roughening device which includes a guide roller for guiding a plastic film, and a surface roughening unit comprising a pair of rollers and an endless surface roughening belt mounted on the pair of rollers. One of the pair of rollers is positioned in confrontation with the guide roller and having a flat outer peripheral surface, while the other roller is spaced away from the guide roller and having an outer peripheral surface in a form of a convened curvature in crosssection.
According to the surface roughening device for the plastic film, since the endless surface roughening belt is mounted on a roller having a flat surface and in confrontation with the guide roller which guides travel of the plastic film and on the other roller having a convexed surface, displacement of the endless surface roughening belt with respect to the rollers can be prevented during travel of the belt. Further, the endless belt can be easily replaced with a new belt in accordance with the alteration in surface roughening width.
In the drawings; Fig. 1 is a schematic side view showing a conventional plastic film surface roughening device; Fig. 2 is a side view showing an essential portion of a surface roughening device for a plastic film according to one embodiment of the present invention; and Fig. 3 is a front view showing a surface roughening unit according to the embodiment of the present invention.
One embodiment according to the present invention will be described with reference to Figs. 2 and 3 wherein like pars and components are designated by the same reference numerals as those shown in Fig. 1.
In Fig. 1, a surface roughening unit 10 is assembled into a plastic film surface roughening device. The surface roughening unit 10 includes a pair of rollers 11, 12, and an endless surface roughening belt 13 mounted thereover. As shown in Fig. 3, one of the rollers 11 has a flat outer peripheral surface lla, whereas the other roller 12 has a barrel shape having a convexed outer surface 12a. The roller 11 having the flat outer surface lla is positioned in confrontation with a guide roller 5 which guides travel of a plastic film 4. The other roller 12 is connected to a drive means not shown.
The flat surface roller 11 is formed of a metal so as to conduct a uniform surface roughening operation. Howev- er, in view of the wearing of the roller due to the employment of the endless surface roughening belt 13, a cushioning layer made of an elastic material is preferably formed over the outer surface of the flat roller 11.
Thus, in performing a surface roughening treatment to a predetermined position of the plastic film 4 in order to obtain a predetermined roughening treatment width, the endless surface roughening belt 13 having a width corresponding to the roughening treatment width is mounted on the pair of rollers 11 12, and a portion of the endless surface roughening belt 13 supported by the flat roller 11 is positioned in confrontation with an intended portion of the plastic film 4 supported by the guide roller 5. The driving means (not shown) coupled to the barrel roller 12 is operated, and at the same time, the running endless belt is in pressure contact with the plastic film 4. Surface roughening portion is thus formed on the plastic film 4. The roughening size is controllable by a difference in traveling speed between the endless belt 13 and the plastic film 4, and/or by the selection of size of the sanding grains of the endless surface roughening belt 13.
On the other hand, a portion of the endless belt 13 is mounted on the protruded or convexed surface of the barrel roller 12, and therefore, the endless belt 13 is not displaced from the roller during its running. Further, by the replacement of the endless surface roughening belt by a new belt, alteration of the surface roughening width with respect to the plastic film can be performed.
The plastic film subjected to the surface roughening treatment can be used as a pouch or bag for containing a material therein. In this case, if the surface roughening portion is positioned at a folding portion of the pouch, the pouch can be easily torn from the folded portion. Alternatively, if the surface roughening area is provided at one of the front and rear walls of the pouch and the roughening area is controlled, vapor or gas transmission amount-through the wall of the pouch is controllable.
A comparative experiment have been conducted in order to demonstrate superiority of the present invention to the conventional arrangement shown in Fig. 1.
[Conventional structure(Fig. l)] Diameter of the disc 1: 75mm Peripheral length of the surface roughening member 2: 236mm [Present invention (Fig. 2)l Entire length of the surface roughening belt 13: 330mm [Testing condition] Pressure between the surface roughening member or the belt and the plastic film: 6 kg Surface roughening speed: 100 m/min.
Width of the surface roughening member or belt: 5 mm 1 Surface roughening material: Grinding sheet #100 (Grit No.) In the above tests, a desirable surface roughening length on the plastic film was 180f000 meters in using the conventional surface roughening device, whereas in the present invention the desirable surface roughening length was 240,000 meters which is far greater than the conventional arrangement. Therefore, it is understood that the present system provides great advantage over the conventional arrangement.
As described above, according to the present invention, the running endless surface roughening belt. is not displaced from the rollers 12 and 11 during operation, and the surface roughening area can be increased in comparison with a conventional device which has a roller having a diameter equal to that of the roller of this invention, since the endless belt is mounted on the pair of rollers of the surface roughening unit, and since one of the rollers in confrontation with the guide roller has a flat outer surface whereas the other roller positioned spaced away from the guide roller has a convexed outer surface. Accordingly, replacement cycle of the endless belt can be prolonged, and roughening treatment width with respect to the plastic film surface can be controlled by replacing the endless belt with a new belt, and its replacement work can be simplified.
