Abstract
A bag comprises a sleeve (1), formed from a sheet of material, closed at its ends and having an opening (2, not shown) along its length. Sliding rings (3, 4) are provided to constrict the sleeve and so define cavities (5 and 6) at each end, and a central portion which forms the holding means of the bag. The volume of each of the cavities (5, 6) is governed by the position of the rings (3, 4) along the sleeve (1). Alternatively, opening (2) may be replaced by respective openings at each end of the sleeve. The sleeve may be closed at one end only, with only one cavity being proved. <IMAGE>
Description
A Baq The present invention relates to a bag.
According to the present invention there is provided a bag comprising a sleeve closed at at least one end and having an opening extending along the sleeve, and constricting means for constricting the sleeve to define a cavity between the constricting means and the closed end, the constricting means being movable along the sleeve.
More specifically, in the invention a bag is envisaged which comprises two end cavities each restricted by rings which define between them a central area which acts as a holding means for carrying the bag over the shoulder, for example, in the manner of saddle-bags.
Other preferred features and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following descriptions and the accompanying claims.
The invention will be further described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Fig. 1 shows in side view a bag forming an embodiment of the invention; and
Fig. 2 shows the bag of Figure 1 in use.
With reference to Figures 1 and 2, a sleeve 1 is formed from a sheet of material. An opening 2 is provided along the length of the sleeve 1 and sliding rings 3 and 4, which constrict the sleeve 1 are carried on the central body portion of the sleeve. The sleeve is closed at each end and the rings 3,4 thus define cavities 5 and 6 respectively, the volume of which depends upon the position of the rings along the sleeve.
A manner of using the bag is shown in Fig. 2.
The invention can be implemented in other embodiments which differ in detail from that given by way of example in the above description and it is intended that such embodiments should be covered by the protection which is claimed. For example, it is possible for the bag to be produced in any shape and size, from suitable materials, whilst remaining within the scope of the invention.
Also, instead of a single opening extending the full length of the sleeve, shorter openings may be associated with each end of the sleeve
Claims (5)
- Claims 1. A bag comprising a sleeve closed at at least one end and having an opening extending along the sleeve, and constricting means for constricting the sleeve to define a cavity between the constricting means and the closed end, the constricting means being movable along the sleeve.
- 2. A bag as claimed in claim 1, wherein the sleeve is closed at both ends and constricting means are provided to define a cavity at each end.
- 3. A bag as claimed in claim 2, wherein a single opening is provided, extending substantially the full length of the sleeve.
- 4. A bag as claimed in claim 1,2 or 3, wherein the constricting means is in the form of a ring.
- 5. A bag substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
