Abstract
The collector comprises a mount body portion 2 and cover body portion 3, the mount body portion being supported on a substrate 4 by means of an adhesive washer 1. This assembly collects waste material resultant from drilling the substrate. The collected waste material can be emptied from the collector once the collector itself is removed from the substrate. <IMAGE>
Description
DRILL WASTE MATERIAL COLLECTOR
This invention relates to a Waste Material Collector for drills.
When holes are drilled the resultant waste material migrates from the hole usually in the form of dust in an uncontrolled manner, potentially damaging decorations and furnishings etc.
According to this invention there is provided a self supporting device which collects the dust etc. created when drilling holes. This device does not require any power source and can be used with different types and sizes of drills.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
FIGURE 1 shows in perspective the Waste Material Collector assembled and in use.
FIGURE 2 shows in perspective an exploded view of the components which make up the Waste Material Collector.
FIGURE 3 shows a section through Waste Material Collector.
Referring to the drawing Fig 2, the Waste Material Collector comprises the following components, adhesive washer(l) mount body(2) and cover body(3).When the Waste Material collector is to be used the mount body(2) is adhered to the substrate(4) over the area to be drilled via the adhesive washer(1) as shown in Fig l.Then the cover body(3) is slid inside the rim of the mount body(2).The drilling work can now take place by passing the drill(6) through the holes in the mount body(2)and cover body(3). These body components are manufactured from a transparent material to aid alignment of the drill. The waste material(5) is collected within the mount body(2) and cover body(3).The form and shape of the mount body(2) and cover body(3) are such that different types and sizes of drill can be used without waste material(5) escaping via the resultant clearance between the drill(6) and the cover body(3). After the drilling work is finished the drill(6) is with drawn and the complete Waste material Collector is removed by peeling it carefully from the substrate(4). The Waste Material Collector is then emptied and used again if required, after several times of use the adhesive washer(l) is replaced.
Claims (9)
1 A drill waste material collector which collects waste
material resultant from drilling a substrate and has means
of self supporting attachment to said substrate.
2 A drill waste material collector as claimed in claim 1
wherein the waste material is collected within a closed body
which contains an inlet for the waste material.
3 A drill waste material collector as claimed in claim 1 or
claim 2 wherein the means of attachment to the substrate is
provided by an adhesive pad.
4 A drill waste material collector as claimed in claim 3
and as dependent on claim 2 wherein the adhesive pad is in
the form of an adhesive washer surrounding the waste
material inlet.
5 A drill waste material collector as claimed in any claim 2
to 4 wherein the body allows for the means of removal of
waste material.
6 A drill waste material collector as claimed in any claim 2
to 5 wherein the body has a hole through which a drill can
pass, this said hole further providing the inlet for waste
material.
7 A drill waste material collector as claimed in any preceding
claim wherein the body has a first portion for attachment to
the substrate and a second body portion removable from the
first portion, in which each portion has a hole in-line
eccentrically positioned.
8 A drill waste material collector as claimed in any preceding
claim wherein the two body components are of a shape and
size to allow access into areas of limited space.
9 A drill waste material collector as described herein with
reference to figures 1-3 of the accompanying drawing.
