Abstract
A folding tool case includes a pair of symmetrical extension casings 3, 4 connected to two relatively hinged basic casings 1, 2 by means of elastic connecting means 6 so as to fold to lay over the basic casings 1, 2 to form a multi-deck tool case to minimise space consumption. When in a folded condition, two handles 11, 21, each mounted on a respective basic casing 1, 2, are adjacent one another for ease of carrying the tool case. <IMAGE>
Description
FOLDING TOOL CASE
This invention relates to a folding tool case.
Conventional tool cases are normally comprised of two casings connected together by means of a pivotal connection, with several tool locating compartments made therein for holding a variety of tools.
Following the development of industrial technology, there has been an increase in the variety of working tools in different sizes and for different purposes. Therefore, one conventional tool case may not be enough to collect one full set of tools and accessories for transportation with oneself for convenient use. In order to increase utilisation of space, a kind of multi-deck folding tool case, as shown in
Figure 1, is provided to satisfy the demand. In this kind of multi-deck folding tool case, when it is to be extended or folded, it is hinged along the same axial direction, when extended, as shown in Figure 2, the casings being bilaterally extended into one elongated line.To pick up a tool, one may have to stand up and move toward the position of the tool and pick it up, because it is too far to reach with a hand. When in a folded condition, as shown in Figure 1, the two handles are separately disposed and inccrverient to carry. If the deck is increased, that is the number of casings are increased, carrying of the folded tool case becomes even more difficult.
The main object of the present invention is to provide a folding tool case in which the foregoing disadvantage is overcome.
According to this invention there is provided a folding tool case including one pair of basic casings, and a pair of extension casings, said basic casings being located next to one another and foldably connected along adjacent sides, and a pair of handles provided so that one handle is positioned on a side of each basic casing remote from said foldable connection, said two handles being attached to the basic casings to be closely adjacent to one another when said tool case is in a folded condition so as to facilitate hand-carrying, said extension casings being connected to said basic casings by respective elastic connecting means and located perpendicularly to said foldable connection so as to fold toward said basic casings and to lay over said basic casings to form a multideck folding tool case.
The invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 illustrates the outer appearance of the prior art,
Figure 2 illustrates an extended condition of the prior art,
Figure 3 is an extended structural view of the preferred embodiment according to the present invention,
Figure 4 is an assembly structural view of the said preferred embodiment of the present invention, and
Figure 5 is an end view of the tool case shown in Figure 4.
Referring to Figure 3, a double-matched and multi-deck folding tool case includes one pair of basic casings 1 and 2 and a plurality of extension casings. In the present embodiment, there is one pair of extension casings 3 and 4 provided to connect with the basic casings 1 and 2. The basic casings 1 and 2 are pivotally connected to match with each other by means of an elastic connecting means to relatively fold up along the direction of the arrow A. One pair of handles 5 comprising a handle 11 and a handle 21 are respectively made on the basic casings 1 and 2 at opposite sides of the case, such that the handles 5 are disposed in the middle (as shown in Figure 4) when the tool case is in a folded condition, so as to facilitate hand-carrying. One or more pairs of symmetric extension casings 3 and 4, that is 2, 4, 6, or 8 or any even number of symmetric extension casings connected in series, are respectively connected to the basic casings 1 and 2 at one side, by means of respective elastic connecting means 6, such that the extension casings 3 and 4 may be folded up toward the tool collection compartments 7 as indicated by arrow B to lay down over the basic casings 1 and 2 respectively to form into a multi-deck folding tool case for convenient carrying (as shown in Figures 4 and 5). When the folding tool case is extended, all the casings are disposed in two rows for conveniently picking up the tools set thereinside.
Claims (4)
1. A folding tool case including one pair of basic casings, and a pair of extension casings, said basic casings being located next to one another and foldably connected along adjacent sides, and a pair of handles provided so that one handle is positioned on a side of each basic casing remote from said foldable connection, said two handles being attached to the basic casings to be closely adjacent to one another when said tool case is in a folded condition so as to facilitate handcarrying, said extension casings being connected to said basic casings by respective elastic connecting means and located perpendicularly to said foldable connection so as to fold toward said basic casings and to lay over said basic casings to form a multi-deck folding tool case.
2. A folding tool case according to claim 1, wherein two said extension casings are provided to each overlie a respective one of the basic casings.
3. A folding tool case as claimed in claim 1, wherein more than one pair of extension casings are connected in series with one another so as to fold toward the basic casings.
4. A folding tool case substantially as herein described with reference to, and as shown in, Figures 3, 4 and 5 of the accompanying drawings.
