Abstract

The invention is a pendulum type level comprising of a light-weight robust 'H' section aluminium body, having circular apertures that contain the pendulum indicators giving easily seen at a glance accuracy using only the law of gravity as a motive force. The pendulum can take various forms, e.g. anchor shaped IV, weighted circular shape V and triangular shape VI. The perimeter of the apertures are calibrated in degrees. <IMAGE>

Description

1. PENCULLM TYPE LEVEL The invention relates to a Pendulun type level.
2. Levels are used extensively in industry, the building trades and D.I.Y. The usual types are the spirit bubble or electronic. The spirit bubble is only accurate if held perfectly still and a good view of both ends of the bubble is observed. The electronic level, while very accurate, is soTewhat fragile, therefore, the need is for a robust accurate level.
3. The invention is a PENIIIM TYPE LEVEL.
The Pendulum Type Level, the invention presented here, has a light wight robust 'H' section aluminium alloy body and easily seen at a glance accuracy using one point pendulum indicators needing only the law of gravity as a motive force.
4. The invention is a PENCULUQ TYPE LEVEL.
The Pendulun Type Level comprises of an 'H' section aluminium alloy body, having circular apertures that contain the one point.
Pendulums illustrated in Figure 1, the Pictorial View, and Figure 2 Diverse Pendulums. The Pendulums are mounted on Pivot Spindles that are located in the transparent closing faces allowing the Pendulums to self centre freely needing only the law of gravity as a motive force and with the perimieter of the apertures Figure 3, calibrated in degrees, any horizontal or vertical planes can be readily checked or set and inclines can be checked or set either fran above or below - refer to Figure 4, Pendulum Type Level Appli cation and Usage.
PENXbLM TYPE LEVEL 5. A specific rbodirnent of the invention will now be described by vJay of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows, in perspective, a Pictorial View of a Pendulum Type Level: i. Body 'H' section aluminium alloy.
ii. Circular apertures.
iii. Transparent closing faces.
iv. Anchor shaped pendulun.
v. Circular weighted pendulun.
vi. Triangular pendulum.
vii. Apertures calibrated in degrees.
viii. Pivot spindle for pendulun.
6. Figure 2 illustrates Diverse Pendulums: 1. Anchor shaped pendulun.
2. Circular weighted pendulum.
3. Triangular pendulums, two types.
4. Square weighted pendulun.
7. Figure 3 shows apertures calibrated in degrees.
8. Figure 4 shows, in perspective, Application and Usage of the Pendulum Type Level: 1. Horizontal plane, e.g., window sill or surface table.
2. Vertical plane, e.g., to plumb a wall or stanchion.
3. Inclined plane, e.g., roof pitch or fall of a drain.
4. Inclined Plane overhead, e.g., roof beans inside a building.

Claims (13)

1. The invention is a PEN3JI4 TYPE LEVEL.
2. The Pendulun Type Level, as claimed in Claim 1, carprises of an 'H' section aluniniun alloy body having circular apertures that contain the one point penduluns illustrated in Figure 1, the Pictorial View, and Figure 3, Diverse Penduluns. The Penduluns are mounted on Pivot Spindles that are located in the transparent closing faces allowing the Pendulums to self centre freely needing only the law of gravity as a native force and with the perimeter of the apertures, Figure 3, calibrated in degrees, any horizontal or vertical planes can be readily checked or set and inclines can be checked or set either fran above or below - reference to Figure 4, Pendulum Type Level Appli cation and Usage.
3. The Pendulun Type Level, as claimed in Claims I and 2, is easy to use and simple to read.
4. The Pendulum Type Level, as claimed in Claims 1 and 2, has a single point Pendulun indicator for corplete accuracy at all tines.
5. The Pendulun Type Level, as claimed in Claims 1 and 2, is equally accurate either horizontally, vertically or any angle desired.
6. The Pendulum Type Level, as claimed in Claims 1 and 2, is easy to use and is also accurate when assessing overhead work within a con fined space.
7. The Pendulum Type Level, as claimed in Claims 1 and 2, is of robust, lightweight construction which could be expected to give years of trouble-free use.
8. The Pendulun Type Level, as claimed in Claims 1 and 2, where minor deviations in the surface of the plane to be checked are not an inpediment because accuracy is not impaired by uneven surfaces.
CLAIMS (Cont'd)
9. The Pendulun Type Level, as claimed in Claims 1 and 2, is accurate when using all or any one of the single point pendulun indicators.
10. The Pendulum Type Level, as claimed in Claims 1 and 2, where any angle of inclination can be readily checked or set without resorting to any alteration or adjustment of any kind to this level.
11. The Pendulum Type Level, as claimed in Claims 1 to 10, where the Pendulurn is the integral part of this invention five different shapes of Pendulums are illustrated in Figure 1, the Pictorial Viesv, and Figure 3, Diverse Pendulums, other variations of Penduluns could be used.
12. Future design and developrrent regarding the fundamental Pendulun indicator concept of the Pendulun Type Level is not confined only to levels but the original idea of a Pendulum is sacrosanct.
13. A Clinearetre using a single point pendulum indicator would be pos sible, also a single point pendulum indicator could be incorporated in a Theodolite. Adjustable set squares could also benefit with the addition of a single point Pendulun indicator.
