Abstract

A bracket 1 is attached at holes 2 to a belt worn by a golfer and one of two spring clip arrangements at right angles receive the handle of a golf trolley. One is for a vertical handle and one is for a horizontal handle. The golfer can thus have his (or her) hands free whilst pulling the trolley. <IMAGE>

Description

This invention relates to a trolley widely used by golfers.
Wheeled carts for carrying a bag of golf clubs typically have a pulling attachment which terminates in a handgrip having a vertical or horizontal aspect. The plastic, wood or tight metal body of the device provides means to accomodate both vertical or horizontal handgrips. The basis of the function is the novel arrangement on the body of a spring which at rest has a diameter smaller than that of a golf cart handgrip and which can be made to increase to a diameter greater than that of a golf cart handgrip by means of pushing down on the spring handle. Releasing the spring handle allows the spring to close upon the handgrip. Portions of the body take the load caused by pulling the golf cart and the spring functions to prevent the golf cart handgrip from pulling clear until intentionally released. The device (1) is attached to a belt to be worn around the users waist with fasteners through the holes (2) in the body. The device is worn on the left side or right side of the body to suit the users preference.
Operation is as follows: Consider a golf cart with a hand grip in the vertical position.
The golf cart can be set up for pulling by depressing and holding down the handle on spring (5) thus increasing its diameter from the at-rest position, which now allows the end of the golf cart handgrip to be inserted through the spring and the raised members (3) and (4). Releasing the spring (5) causes the spring to close upon the golf cart handgrip. The golf cart can now be drawn along by the golfer. The golf cart can be released at will by again depressing and holding down the handle of spring (5) while withdrawing the golf cart handgrip. The spring handle is then released.
For a golf cart with a horizontal handgrip a similar sequence, using however spring (6) and the appropriate holes in the body (1) and raised member (7), is employed.
An alternate method of use would be to secure the vertical or horizontal handgrip in the previous manner but to release the golf cart by leaving the device fastened and taking off the belt to which the device is fastened. I

Claims (4)

  1. CLAI?.r...
To be able to have both hands free when pulling a golf trolley would be a convenience for golfers. The device disclosed herein provides a. novel and suitable means to achieve this.
Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1. GOLFERS TROLLEY AID. A BRACKET MANUFACTURED FROM POLYCARBINATE AND STEEL SPRINTS AND A BODY BELT.
  2. 2. THE BRACKET IS SO MADE AS TO BE ABLE TO RECEIVE A GOLF TROLL HANDLE VERTICAL OR HORIZONTAL THROUGH APERTURES PROVIDED AND SECURED BY A SPRING.
  3. 3. THE SPRING WILL BE MADE OF SPRING STEEL WITH THE NECESSARY TENSION PRESSED DOWN TO ALLOW ENTRY OF HANDLE AND RELEASED TO LOCK. REVERSED PROCEDURE FOR EXTRACTION.
  4. 4. THE BRACKET IS ATTACHED TO A BELT AND HELD BY TWO BOLTS. A SERIES OF HOLES ARE PROVIDED IN THE BELT SO THE USER CAN ADJUST TO THEIR OWN REQUIREMENTS. A QUICK RELEASE FASTENER IS PROVIDED FOR RELEASING THE BELT FROM THE BODY.
