Description

-I- DEVICE FOR CLAMPING A CONTAINER The invention relates to a device for
clamping a container sealed by a lid at its end face in the rotating housing which accommodates the container in a centrifugal drum machine for sliding grinding with a closure bracket extending transversely across the lid of the container and carrying a locking screw which engages the lid, with retaining links arranged on the housing so as to protrude axially beyond the housing and with openings in the retaining links for inserting the ends of the closure bracket therein.
A device of this kind is known from DE 30 27 684-C2.
With the known device, only containers of a certain axial height can be clamped in the housing which accommodates them. This means that only a certain quantity of parts or a certain type of part can be processed in each container on the centrifugal drum machine for sliding grinding. In the case of small quantities of parts, an unnecessarily large amount of abrasive agent is consumed, while in the case of larger quantities of parts, these have to be treated in two or several subsequent work cycles in the machine, which constitutes an undesired loss of time.
The object of the invention is, therefore, to modify a generic device in a simple way such that containers of different height can be clamped in the housing accommo- I- 2 dating them and the deficiencies referred to hereinabove are thereby eliminated.
The object is accomplished, in accordance with the invention, in that each retaining link comprises in its region extending beyond the housing at least two openings arranged one above the other in the axial direction of the housing so that containers of different axial height are selectively clampable in the housing by the closure bracket.
The following description of a preferred embodiment serves in conjunction with the appended drawings to explain the invention in further detail. The drawings show:
Figure 1 a perspective front view of a centrifugal drum machine for sliding grinding; Figure 2 a partly broken-open view in the direction of arrow A in Figure 1; and Figure 3 a plan view of a housing with a container clamped therein.
The centrifugal drum machine for sliding grinding illustrated in Figure 1 comprises a casing 1 in which a recess 2 with a vertically extending rear wall 3 is formed. The recess 2 which is accessible from the front and the top is closable by means of a cover 4 comprised of two 3 articulatedly connected panels 5, 6 At the center of the rear wall 3, a rotary disc 7 is mounted for rotation about a horizontal axis. The rotary disc 7 is made to rotate by a motor which is not illustrated. The rotary disc 7 carries four housings 8 which are each seated on a journal 10 (Figure 2) which is mounted for rotation in the rotary disc 7 and is driven via gear means. When the rotary disc 7 rotates, the housings 8 rotate in addition, for example, in the direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the rotary disc 7 relative to the latter.
Each circular-cylindrical housing 8 accommodates a hexagonal container 9 which is sealable by a lid 11 with the aid of three locking mechanisms 12, the details of which are not of interest in this context. The parts which are to be ground, mostly small parts, and a suitable abrasive agent for grinding or polishing the surfaces of the parts are located in the sealed containers 9.
To clamp the containers 9 sealed by the lids 11 in the housings 8, the latter each comprise two diametrically opposed retaining links 13 which are firmly connected to the housings 8 and extend in the axial direction beyond the rim of the housings 8 at the end face thereof enclosing the housing opening. In the region extending beyond the housing 8, each retaining link 13 comprises at least two, but in the illustrated embodiment three, 1 4 11 openings 14 arranged alongside one another in the axial direction of the housing 8. In each housing 8, the ends of a closure bracket 15 are inserted in two openings 14 located opposite each other in the same horizontal plane. Each closure bracket 15 comprises on a circular- cylindrical middle piece 16 an axially extending locking screw 17 with the aid of which (cf. Figure 2) a supporting member 18 can be pressed onto the top of the lid 11 in such a way that the ends of the closure bracket 15 are supported at the upper limitations of two openings 14 and the entire container 9 sealed by the lid 11 is firmly and non-rotatably clamped in the housing 8 by corresponding tightening of the locking screw 17.
As best seen in Figure 2, owing to the three openings 14 arranged alongside one another in the axial direction of the housing 8 in each retaining link 13, it is possible for containers 9 of different axial height to be clamped in the housing 8. Depending on the height of the container, either the two top opposite, the two middle or the two bottom openings 14 are used to insert the ends of the bracket 15.

Claims (2)

CLAIMS:
1.Device for clamping a container sealed by a lid at its end face in the rotating housing which accommodates the container in a centrifugal drum machine for sliding grinding with a closure bracket extending transversely across the lid of the container and carrying a locking screw which engages the lid, with retaining links arranged on the housing so as to protrude axially beyond the housing and with openings in the retaining links for inserting the ends of the closure bracket therein, characterized in that each retaining link (13) comprises in its region extending beyond the housing (8) at least two openings (14) arranged alongside one another in the axial direction of the housing (8) so that containers (9) of different axial height are selectively clampable in the housing (8) by the closure bracket (15).
