Abstract

This invention relates to the rear tie bars fitted to maintain the alignment of the rear wheels of certain motor vehicles. The tie bar is adjustable, being designed to replace a tie bar which has design limitations. There is an additional length of thread 1 over the original and the absence of a welded stop allows a nut of the same size 3 as the original to be placed on the threaded portion of the tie bar 1 in front of the rear suspension followed by a shim washer next to the rear suspension followed by a shim washer and nut of the same size to the rear of the rear suspension. Adjustment is achieved by having the nuts 3 forward and rearward to achieve the correct required rear wheel alignment. <IMAGE>

Description

Ashroyd ear Tie Rar This invention relates to the rear tie-bar fitted to cirtain rotor vehicles.
The fitting of rear tie-bars is an accepted practice on cirtain rotor vesicles. The tie-bar is an integeral part of the overall design of tha rear assembly of the rear axle configuration on many motor vehicles. The rear tie-bar is used to align the rear suspension and maintain the alignment throughout the life of the vehicle.
The task of aligning the rear wheels of Ford Escourt and Orian motor cars is difficult oin to the design of the existing tie-bar in use at this time.
This invention details a method of achieving the required accuracy of alignment, using the correct equipment, available on premises involved in this field of work.
The design differs in that the overall length of the tie-bar is increased to allow for the threaded protion (1) to be increased.
The fixed stop (2) is deleted and replaced by nut (3). The nut (3) is adjustable and the increased thread length (1) allows additional adjustment to be accurately positioned and secured by nut (4) at the rear end of the tie-bar.

Claims (1)
