Abstract

An angler's trolley comprising a wheeled chassis, fitted with a suspension and superstructure suitable for the transport of major items of fishing tackle over uneven ground, may be converted, using no additional parts, into a bed/seat with a reclinable back 16; the bed/seat being capable of being levelled on sloping uneven ground, and thus providing a level base on which to deploy items of fishing tackle. The levelling means comprises a pair of front legs 18 pivotable about 15 and adjustable in length. <IMAGE>

Description

ANGLERS COMBINATION TROLLEY/SEAT.
This invention relates to an anglers combination trolley/seat.
In order to reach a desired place for fishing, an angler quite often has to walk long distances carrying all his/her tackle, including a large rod bag, tackle box and seat.
At present the only available means of easing this workload, is a basic upright chair fitted with wheels, on which the tackle box can be transported.
The current design of these "combo trolleys" severely compromises the efficiency of the device. As a trolley, they cannot carry all the tackle required,. and as a seat are very basic and uncomfortable to use for long periods.
The invention presented here describes an anglers trolley, for which purpose is provided a wheeled chassis, a suitable suspension for traversing rough uneven ground, and fitted with a superstructure suitable for securing and transporting all major items of fishing tackle.
Combined with said trolley and based on the same chassis, is presented a fully reclining bed/seat with provision made to level said chair on uneven sloping ground and provided with a suitable platform adjacent to, attached to and levelled with the chair, on which to stand the tackle box.
The chair armrests being designed with internal stowage space for smaller items of tackle and being also provided with a suitable mounting point for a variable angle rod rest.
By reason of the dual purpose nature of the invention, the following description will be in reference to whichever mode is being described i.e. The trolley.or The seat.
Many parts have a dual purpose and will therefore carry the same reference number in the drawings enclosed.
Refering to the drawings, Fig 1.2.3. & .
There are provided chassis frames 1.suitably spaced with cross tubes 2.Trailing suspension arms 3. are pivoted on the chassis 4. and are each provided with a suspension unit and rebound strap. 5. The trolley wheels are attached to the trailing arms via stub axles 6. which can be positioned either side of the trailing arms to provide a wide or narrow track. A towing socket 7. is attached to the front cross tube of the trolley for hand towing by means of tow bar 8.
A superstructure 9. is attached to the chassis frame via suitable hinges 10. and is positioned , in trolley mode, over the chassis and wheels to provide a platform for the securing and carriage of the tackle box.
The tow bar is provided with a stirrup 11. to secure the top part of a fishing rod bag, the base of which is supported-by an adjustable base stirrup 12.
There is provided a suitable seat frame,1 & . in which to suspend a flexible seat base 13. ( Normal garden chair practice,) At all four corners of the seat frame are provided fulcrum points 14 & 15. on which to pivot the seat backrest 16. and the front leg clamps 17. The operation of the fulcrum points utilising friction clamps or other suitable mechanical means. The chair front legs 18 being adjusted for length and rake at fulcrums 14. to provide a level seat base on sloping ground. The seat backrest being fully reclinable at fulcrums 15. for use as a bed chair.
The backrest is provided with a headrest 12. which is adjustable for angle in relation to the backrest, using similar friction clamps as at 14 & 5.thereby allowing the headrest to be folded away when not required, and when in trolley mode, forming the bottom support stirrup for the rod bag.
The seat frame sides 1. are angled downwards at the rear providing positive stops for the trailing arms, which, when released from the rebound straps 5. are pivoted rearwards and latched 19. to the seat frame to provide fixed length rear seat legs 3. The wheels being so positioned in this configuration as to prevent the rear legs from sinking far into the soft earth on a river bank.
A folding footrest 20. is pivoted on the front crosstube, using suitable tube clamps, and can be folded away under the chair when not required.
The superstructure 9. is pivoted through 180 degrees from its position over the trolley to form a platform being attached to and in the same plane as the seat base and using suitably designed hinges which can be tranferred easily to the other side of the seat frame thereby allowing the angler to posion his tackle box on the platform for left or right hand operation. The outer side of said platform being supported by a single adjustable length hinged leg.21.
The seat armrests 22.are mounted vertically above each seat frame using hinges and sliding locking tubes, 23.
enabling each arm rest to be folded horizontally inwards in trolley mode. Each armrest is provided with a hinged lid, under which internal stowage space is provided in the form of a box shaped receptacle 24. A mounting point is provided on the outside of each box for a swivel clamp 25. in which the rod rest 8. can be located, having angular adjustment in the vertical plane. The rod rest also incorporates fittings for attaching commercially made rod supports and bite detectors.
From figures 1,2,3 & . it can be understood that after removing the fishing tackle from the trolley, the method of converting to a seat is as follows.
Lock rear legs in position, adjust and lock front legs unfold and lock footrest if required, unfold tackle box platform and lower support leg, lock armrests in position, Unfold and lock back rest, and headrest if required.
Transpose tow bar for rod rest.
FIG 1.
Shows side view of trolley, with position of fishing tackle box and rod bag shown in dotted lines.
FIG 2.
Shows side view of seat , with tackle box platform on left hand side, and rod rest in position on right hand side FIG. 3.
Shows left hand side of seat viewed from the front, showing left hand armrest in position, and tackle box platform deployed at side of seat.
FIG 4.
Shows left hand side of trolley viewed from rear, showing relationship of parts when in folded trolley mode. also showing dual position of trolley wheel either side of a suspension arm.
