Description

TITLE: SPARK PLUG CAP BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION It is well known tat the carbon deposite in the spark plug will be disadvantageous to the ignition efficiency, combustion and envirornent pollution. Since the spark plug is subjected to high temparature and pressure, the incomplete combustion gas will adhere to the ground electrode of the spark plug thereby forming carbon deposite thereon and so the gas between the center electrode and the ground electrode will be reduced.
This will decrease the ignition efficiency and make the combustion become worse. Hence, the carbon deposite will be further enhanced, resulting in the reduction in engine efficiency as well as the service life thereof.
It is, therefore, an object of the present invention to provide a spark plug cap which may obviate arid mitigate the above-mentioned drawbacks.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION This invention is directed to a spark plug cap adapted for use with a spark plug.
It is the primary object of the present invention to provide a spark plug cap which may reduce the carbon deposite on the spark plug.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a spark plug cap which may facilitate the igition of the gas.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a spark plug cap whick may increase the engine efficiency.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a spark plug cap which is simple in construction.
It is still another object of the present invention to provide a spark plug cap which is economic to produce.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a spark plug cap which is facile to manufacture.
Other and further objects of the present invention will be apparant from the following description and claims, and are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which, by way of illautration, show a preferred embodiment of the present invention and the principles thereof, and what is now considered to be the best mode in which to apply these principles. Other embodiments of the invention embodying the same or equivalent principles may be used and structural changes may be made as desired by those skilled in the art without departing from the invention.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS FIG.1 shows a spark plug cap according to the present invention and a spark plug; and FIG.2 is a sectional view showing the engagement of the present invention with a spark plug.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT For purpose of promoting an understanding of the principles of the invention, reference will now be made to the embodimentt illustrated in the drawings.
Specific language will be used to describe same. It will, nevertheless, be understood that no limitation of the scope of the invention is thereby intended, such alternations and further applications of the principles of the invention as illustrated herein being contemplated as would normally occur to one skilled in the art to which the invention relates.
With reference to the drawings and in particular to FIG. 1 thereof, the spark plug cap 1 according to the present invention is provided at the upper part with a hemispherical portion 15 on which there are an elongated slot 11 and a number of perforations 16. Below the hemispherical portion are screws threads 12 for engaging with the plug hole of a cylinder. The lower part of the spark plug cap 1 has a hexagonal portion 13 for faciltating the mounting of the spark plug cap 1 on the cylinder (not shown). The interior of the spark plug cap 1 is formed with internal threads 14 adapted to receive external threads 21 of the spark plug 2.
Referring to FIG.2, the spark plug cap 1 is mounted on the spark plug 2 through the engagement of the internal threads 14 with the external threads 21. The elongated slot 11 is disposed closely opposite to a ground electrode 22 of the spark plug 2 thereby enabling the spark produced by the spark plug 2 to fire the gas entering therein through the elongated slot 11.
As can be seen in the drawings, the ground electrode 22 of the spark plug 2 is enveloped in the cap 1 so ttiat most incomplete-combustion articles will be separated from the ground electrode 22 of spark plug 2 hence relieving the carbon deposite on the spark plug 2 ad therefore, increasing the combustion efficiency. Furthermore the temperature inside the cap 1 will be high than that outside the cap 1 ad this will facilitate the ignition of the gas thus further increasing the combustion efficiency. The perforations 16 are desiged to ensure the provision of sufficient gas to the interior of the cap 1.
It should be noted that the cap 1 according to the present invention is made of highly conductive metal such as silver, copper, or the like. In addition, since the outer diameter will become larger when the spark plug 2 is engaged with the cap 1, it is necessary to slightly enlarge the plug hole of the cylinder so as to receive the cap 1. In any case, the customer may use a smaller spark plug instead so that it will be unnecessary to modify the plug hole of the cylinder.
It is recommended to disconnect the cap 1 from the spark plug 2 so as ,to clean the dirt off the cap 1 periodically thereby keeping the cap 1 in good condition.
Although this invention has been described with a certain degree of particularity, it is understood that the present disclosure is made by way of example only, and that numerous changes in the detail of construction and component parts may he resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.
