Abstract

A hanger or suspension device for a display package comprises a hook (7) and a plate (2) for insertion into a cutout in the package. The plate is provided at its sides with two mutually aligned slots (4, 5) and connected to a first one of the slots (5) is a downwardly and inwardly extending enlargement (6), by which is formed a flexible arm (7) downwardly bounding the first slot (5). A nose (8) bounding the end of this slot (5) projects by a small amount below the line of the lower edge of the slot (5). In use the nose 8 detents into the cutout (a) in the package so that the device is firmly connected with the package and cannot be released without damaging it. <IMAGE>

Description

SUSPENSION DEVICE FOR A DISPLAY PACKAGING -The present invention relates to a suspension device for a display package.

For the suspension of goods for the purpose of sale-promoting presentation, hooks are needed which can be attached easily, but also securely, to the goods packaging. For this purpose the goods packaging is suitably designed. A particularly simple kind of attachment is to provide the goods packaging with a slot-shaped cutout into which the foot part of a hook can be pushed.

According to the present invention there is provided a suspension device for a display package, the device comprising a hook and an integral plate which is engageable in a cutout in such a package and which is provided with two mutually aligned slots extending towards each other from two opposite lateral edge regions of the plate to permit engagement in the cutout, a first one of the slots having a prolongation which extends in directions away from the hook and towards the second slot so that a flexible arm is formed by the portion of the plate bounding the first slot and prolongation at the sides thereof remote from the hook, and the inner end of the first slot being bounded by a nose which projects in direction away from the hook beyond the line of said side of the first slot.

Such a device may be simple to manipulate but provide a secure attachment.

In a preferred embodiment the device comprises a hook and mouldedon plate for the pushing into a goods carton, wherein the plate is provided at both sides with mutually aligned slot-shaped notches for reception of the carton,which is provided with a cutout. Connected to the one of the slots is a downwardly and inwardly extending enlargement, by which is formed a flexible arm downwardly bounding the relevant slot, and the nose bounding the slot end projects by a small amount below the arm surface downwardly bounding the slot. A desired bending location can be formed at the start of the arm at the plate by means of notch.

An embodiment of the present invention will now be more particularly described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing, the single figure of which is an elevation of a device embodying the invention.

Referring now to the drawing there is shown a suspension device which consists of a hook 1 with a moulded on plate 2. The hook 1 can be constructed strengthened by ribs 3 arranged at the outer edges. Otherwise, however, the hook plate 2 is constructed from a thin flat plate.

Disposed in the plate 2 at both sides thereof are slot-shaped notches, designated in the following as slots 4 and 5. The slots 4 and 5 are mutually aligned and are provided for pushing into a carton for packaging goods. For this purpose arranged in the carton is a slot-shaped cutout, the length of which corresponds to the spacing a between the inner ends of the slots 4 and 5.

As shown in the drawing, connected to the slot 5 is an inwardly and downwardly extending enlargement 6, by which an arm 7 is formed. The arm 7 bounds the slot 5 at its lower side. A nose 8, extending into the enlargement 6 and bounding the inner end of the slot 5, projects by a small amount beyond the dot-dashed line which defines the lower edge of the slot 5. Disposed at the point where the arm 7 commences in the plate 2 is a notch 9, which forms a desired bending location and thus increases the flexibility of the arm 7.

For insertion of the suspension device into the carton, the device is initially introduced with the arm foremost into the provided carton slot, in particular as far as the inner end of the enlargement 6. The nose 10 below the slot 4 can now be rotated into the carton slot, until the nose 11 disposed above the slot 4 lies at the carton. If the device is now displaced to the right until the carton strikes in the slot 4, the nose 8 detents in the carton slot so that the device is now firmly connected with the carton and cannot be released without damage to the carton.

For the size of the plate 2, the principal consideration is that the spacing between the nose 10 and the inner end of the enlargement 6 is not greater than the spacing a between the nose 8 and the inner end of the slot 4, corresponding to the length of the carton slot.

Claims

1. A suspension device for a display package, the device comprising a hook and an integral plate which is engageable in a cutout in such package and which is provided with two mutually aligned slots extending towards each other from two, opposite lateral edge regions of the plate to permit engagement in the cutout, a first one of the slots having a prolongation which extends in directions away from the hook and towards the second slot so that a flexible arm is formed by the portion of the plate bounding the first slot and prolongation af the sides thereof remote from the hook, and the inner end of the first slot being bounded by a nose which projects in direction away from the hook beyond the line of said side of the first slot.

2. A suspension device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the plate is provided with a recess at the root of the arm to reduce the crosssection of the arm at its root.
