Abstract

A ski boot carrier, for fastening together a pair of ski boots placed side by side and allowing the carrying of the boots by hand, comprises first and second loops A, B fitting respectively around the upper portion and soles and around the side portion and back of the boots, the loops being formed by straps 6, 4, which may be interchangeable, and a common strap 5 for hand-carrying, the straps being joined by rings 2. The straps may be adjustable by tighteners 7, 3, and releasable by coupling devices 10, 11 (3, Fig 3). The carrier may include a separate shoulder strap (8). <IMAGE>

Description

AN IMPROVED SKI BOOT CARRIER 1 This invention cosprises a ski boot carrier.
2 Ski boots are bulky, heavy objects to carry.Existing designs of carrier cary the boot sole to sole and take up a lot of space both when in use and when stored.
3 The invention is of a light carrier which carries a pair of ski boots side by side Dade from straps, rings,a fastening device and a tightener.
4 Figure 1 shows a side view of the invention in use.
Figure 2 shows a front view of the invention in use.
Figure 3 shows a plan view of the invention in use.
Figure 4 shows an isometric view of the invention, but without boots.
5 The invention forms a support round a pair of ski boots which enables them to be carried in the hand either by gripping at the front or back of the boot.An additional carrying strap to allow the device to be carried from the shoulder can be fitted.
6 A device according to the invention is described below with reference to the accompanying drawings.
In the figures 1 represents a pair of ski boots.Items numbered 2 to 8 comprise the invention, made from pliable straps, rigid rings and fastening and tightening devices.
Figure 4 shows the invention only, without boots, but in its working attitude,in order to clarify the disposition of its parts.
The invention is essentially a double loop of strapping (the loops being A and B Fig.4),with straps 4 and 6 being secured about the rigid rings 2. 4 and 6 lay be provided with tightening devices 3 and 7 of a conventional design, enabling each strap to be shortened as required.
When a pair of boots is placed within the straps as indicated in Figures 1,2 and 3,loops A and B may be tightened until the boots are clamped firmly together, and able to be carried using strap 5 as a handle.Since 5 is approximately at the centre of gravity of the boots, these may be lifted or set down on their soles with the maximum of conveniance.
Any or all of 4,5,and 6 may also be provided with a means of detachably coupling one of their ends to either of the rings 2 or nay be detachable along their length in order to facilitate the fitting of the device to the boots.Such a clip could be a hook similar to that used to attach a dog lead to a dog collar,10 and 11 Figure 4 or a standard clip joining the two parts of the strap 3 Figure 3.
If both straps 4 and 6 are provided with identical tightening and detachable coupling means, this will assist with the fitting of the device, since the user does not have to decidewhich strap passes round the soles and which passes round the back of the boots.
A carrying strap 3 attaches to rings 2 allowing the device to be carried from the shoulder.
7 An alternative to the invention described night have the said tightening and/or fastening means at any point along the appropriate straps and could have a carrying handle attatched to one or more of the straps or rings.

CLAIMS:
1. A ski boot carrying device for fastening together a pair of ski boots in side-by-side configuration and enabling the pair to be carried by hand, comprising first and second loops which are capable of being fitted around the upper portion and side portion respectively of a pair of boots so as to hold the pair together in side-by-side configuration and wherein the second loop is attached to the first loop at at least one attachment point.
2. A ski boot carrying device according to claim 1 wherein the or each attachment point is located, in use, at or near the front of the upper portion of the pair of boots.
3. A ski boot carrying device according to claim 1 or claim 2 wherein two attachment points are provided, which are interconnected by a strap portion common to each loop.
4. A ski boot carrying device according to claim 3 wherein, in use, that portion of the carrying device which interconnects the attachment points and which is common to both the first and the second loops is located near the centre of gravity of the boots and is capable of use as a carrying handle.
5. A ski boot carrying device according to any one of the preceding claims further comprising a separate carrying strap.
6. A ski boot carrying device according to any one of the preceding claims wherein the or each attachment point comprises a ring to which is attached appropriate ends of the first and second loops.
7. A ski boot carrying device according to any one of the preceding claims wherein at least one of the first and second loops is of an adjustable length.
8. A ski boot carrying device according to any one of the preceding claims wherein at least one of the first and second loops is provided with at least one releasable coupling.
9. A ski boot carrying device according to any one of the preceding claims wherein the first and second loops are substantially identical.
10. A ski boot carrying device substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
