Abstract
The invention relates to an overvoltage protector with spark air gaps. The protector is intended for such terminal blocks which have a plurality of connectors insulated from each other for connecting a plurality of electrical conductors. The protector (3) has one or more earth electrodes (4) for connection to an earth conductor and a plurality of protective electrodes (5) for connection to the connectors of the terminal block. In the overvoltage protector the earth electrodes and protective electrodes are arranged insulated from each other and with intermediate spark air gaps. The earth and protective electrodes are formed (14, 15, 16) and situated relative each other in the overvoltage protector such that the nominal d.c. excitation voltage between earth electrode and any protective electrode is substantially equally as great as the nominal d.c. excitation voltage between this protective electrode and any other protective electrode. The overvoltage protector is utilizable as lightning protector for telecable networks withstanding an overvoltage in the order of magnitude 10 kV or more.
