Abstract

A vehicle badge e.g. a car emblem 11 is fixed to a microswitch 12. This microswitch 12 is wired, one side direct to the car battery via an isolating switch and an in-line fuse the other direct to an alarm. Movement of the badge sets off the alarm and thereby act as a deterrent preventing the badge from being broken or stolen. <IMAGE>

Description

VEHICLE BADGE ALARM This invention relates to a vehicle bodge alarm.
The vehicle badges are those fitted to certain vehicles in the shape of an emblem, figure or animal, fixed to the front, centre of the vehicles bonnet.
The problem with most of these badges are that they are vulnerable to vandalism and inevitably get broken off.
With this invention the vehicles badge is fitted to an alarm so that any movement of the badge sets it off. Therefore as soonas somebody Pries to break it off or steal it the alarm sounds and so acts as a deterrent.
A typical layout on one particular make of vehicle is shown with reference to the two accompanying drawings : Sheet 1 shows the detail of the car badge fixed to the bonnet.
Sheet 2 illustrates the circuit diagram.
Referring to sheet 1 the car badge 11 is already fixed to the bonnet and sprung mounted as shown.
This allows movement of the badge, pivoting as illustrated, the tension of the spring returning it to the vertical position.
An additional link is fitted to the centre rod which is then connected to a microswitch 12. This microswitch 12 is then wired as shown in the circuit diagram of sheet 2.
The following additional items are installed.
Wiring is run direct from the car battery, via an in-line fuse, to an isolating witch fixed inside the car deshboard. The other terminal of this isolating switch is wired direct to the microswitch 12 fixed to the car badge 11. The remaining wire from the microswitch 12 is connected to the alarm which is earthed to complete the circuit.
Hence, when the circuitis live, any movement of the car badge 11 makes the contacts close within the microswitch 12 completing the circuit and therefore setting off the alarm.
Other car badges can be wired in a similar manner.
