Abstract

A card for displaying sample accessories for roller blinds in association with other customer information is formed from a sheet (10) comprising two hinged covers (14, 16). The cover (14) is formed from layers of board providing recesses (18-24) within which samples of trims can be located. The card is adapted to be used with a ring binder and can be releasably connected to the inside front cover thereof for example by Velcro. On the cover (16) the information so positioned that when the binder is open and the card is open the information presented on the cover (16) is always available when the customer looks through other loose leaf sheets in the binder. When the covers (14, 16) are closed the sample trims are retained clean and undamaged. <IMAGE>

Description

Display Apparatus This invention relates to display apparatus and is particularly concerned with apparatus for displaying to a customer selections of components in association with other customer information.
Heretofore selections of material, such as roller blinds, have been available to customers in loose leaf form in ring binders. It has proved difficult to illustrate to the customer within such a binder the selection of trims and other accessories which could be available for use with the roller blinds, the use of photographs having been unable to show clearly the actual colours and designs. The use of samples of accessories in the binders has also to date proved unsuccessful in that the accessories become damaged and discoloured very quickly through handling of the binder bu customers.
According to the present invention there is provided display apparatus comprising article receiving means hingedly connected to information presentation means, the article receiving means having a plurality of recesses in an inner display surface, in which recessses can be located articles below the level of the display surface, the information presentation means having an inner display surface for the presentation of information thereon, and means providing for connection of the apparatus in a ring binder, so that articles in the recesses and the information presented are always viewable in association with any selected page of those pages on the ring binder, with the binder open and the article receiving means hinged open, while hinged closure of the article receiving means provides a protective cover for the articles in the recesses, Preferably the article receiving means is formed of a laminate of material, such as board, layered to such a height that cuts through layers above the lowermost layer provide recesses of required depth.
Alternatively the articles receiving means may comprise spaced layers of material, such as board, with an in-fill of a material such as a foam.
The connection means on the information presentation means may be releasably connectible to an inside cover of the ring binder. The connection means may comprise a material formed with a plurality of hooks or eyes for releasable connection with a further material on the inside cover of the ring binder having correspondingly eyes or hooks, thereby providing for a releasable connection in the form of Velcro (Registered Trade Mark). Alternatively the connection means may comprise an extension to the width of the information presentation means, the extension being provided with holes for mounting of the information presentation means on the ring of the binder.
This invention also provides a ring binder having, releasably mounted therein, a display apparatus as described in any of the three preceding paragraphs.
An embodiment of the present invention will now be described by way of example only with reference to the accompanyng drawing, the single figure of which illustrates the innermost surfaces of a display card.
Referring to the drawing, a display card, formed for example from a rectangular sheet 10 of cardboard has a centrefold line 12, thereby defining two hinged covers 14,16.
The cover 14 has a plurality of layers of board mounted one upon the other to form a laminated arrangement of a required thickness. The layers of board above the original layer of the cover 14 have sections cut away to define profiled recesses 18-24.
Within the recesses can be mounted by any suitable adhesive or other means, samples of trims for roller blinds. For example a sample of tassle trim 26 can be located in the recess 18, a fringe trim 28 in the recess 20, and a braid trim 30 in the recess 22, while samples of trims showing the different colours available for each design can be provided in the enlarged recess 24.
On the remainder of the innermost surface of the cover 14 can be provided, for example, illustrations (not shown) of cord pull designs for use with the roller blinds.
The innermost surface of the cover 16 is utilised for the presentation of information such as the selection of lower end shapes for roller blinds. Such information is presented within an area 32 towards the side of the surface adjacent the fold line 12 for a purpose hereinafter described. Other information of a general nature, not specific to the choosing of roller blind trims or other accessories may be provided on the other side of the cover surface.
On the reverse side of the cover 16, there is provided a section of a material such as Velcro (not shown). The display card is intended for use with loose leaf sheets illustrating different designs and colours of material available for use in roller blinds, the sheets being mounted on the ring of a ring binder there is provided a further section of Velcro material, whereby the display card can be releasably connection to the ring binder by engagement of the sections of Velcro, the edge of the cover 16 remote from the fold line 12 being nearest the binder ring.
When the ring binder is not in use and the display card is attached to the inside front cover of the binder, the cover 14 is folded over the corner 16, i.e.
towards the binder ring, so that the cover 16 forms a protective cover for the sample trims within the recesses 18-24. The front cover of the binder can then be folded over the ring with the loose leaf sheets thereon, with the display card being safely and neatly retained within the binder. In use when the binder is opened, the cover 14 is hinged outwardly from the cover 16 and extends outwardly of the binder cover whereby always to be visible to a customer who looks through the loose leaf sheets of the binder. The positioning of the Velcro section is such that open loose leaf sheets on the ring will not extend over the area 32 of the cover 16 so that the information presented within the area 32 is also always available to a customer looking through the loose leaf sheets.
There is thereby provided an effective way of presenting sample trims and other information to a customer in a display card which can be easily used with a ring-binder but can be separately used if desired.
The samples are retained clean and undamaged when not in use.
In an alternative arrangement to Velcro, the width of the cover 16 in a direction away from the fold line 12 can be extended with the extension being provided with holes by means of which the cover 16 and thereby the display card may be located on the ring of the binder. The width of the cover 16 is such that the information within the area 32 is still always available to a customer when the customer is looking through the loose leaf sheets as the latter cannot extend over the area 32.
Various modifications may be made without departing from the invention. For example the relative positioning of the recesses may differ from that described and shown and also the relative sizes and the profiles of the recesses may differ. It will be appreciated that samples and information relating to other than roller blinds and their accessories may be utilised with a display card as described and shown.
Also the cover 14 may be formed from spaced layers of material, such as board, with an in-fill of a material, such as a foam.
