Abstract

221,690. Bulckens, F. Nov. 12, 1923. Gems.-The crown and root. of a diamond or other stone are so cut that each is provided with nine main facets, which may be further cut into subsidiary or half facets. The Figure shows one way of cutting the stone, the thicker lines indicating the facets on the crown and the thinner lines those on the root. In this case, there are on the. crown nine main facets 2 at the angles of three equilateral triangles, with eighteen sub-facets 3 and nine sub-facets 5. while on the root there are nine main facets 6 and eighteen sub-facets 7, varying in height according to the depth of the stone. Other examples of diamonds and brilliants cut according to the invention are described and illustrated.
