Abstract
An earring comprises a stud unit 1, a cluster unit 2 and a drop unit 4 which are detachably connected so that it may be worn in four different styles of adornment. The earring may be worn as a stud independently (Fig. 2), as a stud-cluster earring whereby the stud is inserted into the accommodating hole of the cluster attachment (Fig. 3), as a stud and drop earring connected via the connecting-pin 3 which slides through the earpin 1c of the stud (Fig. 4) or, as the fully assembled stud-cluster-drop earring Fig. 5. All assemblies are secured to the ear by a standard butterfly fitting 5. <IMAGE>
Description
DETACHABLE STUD-CLUSTER-DROP EARING
This invention relates to a Detachable Stud-Cluster-Drop Earing.
Earings have a role in fashion, design and everyday use. They comprise of different styles, Studs or Clusters or Drops, which are permanently secured as singular units. Each pair of earings has only one function.
Earings, particularly ones used in connection with precious jewellery, are relatively expensive. As single-style units, for example, Studs or
Clusters or Drops, their use is limited to be worn on certain occasions only.
according to the preset invention there is provided a Detachable Stud Cluster-Dror saying, comprising of a Stud unit, a Cluster unit and a
Drop unit. There is means for releasably securing the Stud unit to the
Cluster uni by inserting Stud into fluster. There is also means for releasably securing the Stud unit or Stud-Cluster unit to the Drol unit by use of a Connecting-pin. Each style is secured to the ear by a standard Fin and Butterfly fitting.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to t.le accompanying drawings in which:-
Figure 1 illustrates the separate units, that is, the Stud uni 1, the
Cluster unit 2, the Connecting-pin unit 3, the Drop unit 4 and the
Butterfly unit 5.
Figure 2 demonstrates the Stud style, units 1 and 5.
Figure 3 demonstrates the Cluster style, units 1,2 and 5.
Figure 4 demonstrates the Stud-Drop style, units 1,3,4 and 5.
Figure 5 demonstrates the Stud-Cluster-Drop style, units 1,2,3,4 and 5.
Refering to the drawing the earing comprises four styles of use. The
Stud as demonstrated in Fig. 2, the Stud-Oluster as demonstrated in
Fig. 3, the Stud-Drop as demonstrated in Fig. 4 and the Stud-Cluster
Drop as demonstrated in Fig. 5. Fig. 1, illustrates the separate units.
The Stud unit 1, illustrates the Bezel 1A, the Body 13 and the Earpin 1C.
The Body 13, has an arched opening on one side at the bottom of the wall.
The Cluster unit 2, illustrates the @ezel 2A and the Body 23. There is an identical arched opening in Body 2B as in Body 13. The whole unit 2, incorporates a central hole which accommodates, in shape and size, the
Body of the Stud 13.
The Drop units 3 and 4, illustrate: 1. The Connecting-pin 3r comprising of the Head 3A, the Pin 3B and the
Jump-ring 3C. The Head 3A, incorporates a hole to allow the EarFin
1C, to pass through.
2. The Drop attachment 4, comprising of the Jump-ring 44 and the Drop 4B.
The Connecting-pin 3, and the Drop attacnment 4, are secured via Jumr- rings 3C and 4X.
The arche openings illustrated in Bodies 19 and 23, serve to accommodate the Pin 3B.
The butterfly unit 5, serves to secure the earning, from the rear, once the Earpin 1C, is inserted into the pierced ear.
In order to assemble the Detachable Stud-Cluster-Drop Earing, Fig. 5, units 1,2,3,4 and 5, require to be connected. Assembly sequence commences with the Stud unit 1, which is inserted through the top opening of the
Bezel of the Cluster unit 2A, via the Earpin 1C, to fit in position.
Finally, the Drop 4, already attached to the Connecting-pin 3, is releasably secured by inserting the Head 3t, via the Earpin 1t, to fit inside Bodies 1B and 23.
The Earpin 1C, is then inserted into the pierced ear and secured onto te ear by inserting the Butterfly 5, over the Earpin 1=, from the rear.
Fig. 4, requires units 1,3,4 and 5, to be connected; Fig. 3, units 1,2 and 5; ; Fig. 2, units 1 and 5.
To remove and detach the Baring, the sequence described above is reverses.
