Abstract

In a video cassette, a reel lock release lever has two pivot pins 4 pressed through narrow gaps 3 into respective over- sized holes 5, adjacent slots 7, 7' allowing flexure of material bonding the gaps 3 to permit panage of the pins. <IMAGE>

Description

Title: Release Lever Fixing Device for a Video Tape Cassette The present invention relates to a release lever fixing device for a video tape cassette.
The release lever fixing device with which the invention is concerned is a part of a reel locking device which is installed to prevent a tape from being damaged by coming loose as a result of reel revolution when not safely seated on the deck of a video tape recorder in the case of a video tape cassette which records or reproduces image signals by being installed on a video tape recorder.
In particular, the present invention is an improvement made on the support structures of pin support ribs formed in the cassette case to support both pins of a release lever.
In the case of prior art, as shown in Fig. 3, the pin support grooves 5 of ribs 2 which support both pins 4 of release lever 3 are greater than the diameters of pins 4 and are formed in so a simple way that they tend to come off easily if they are disturbed in the process of assembly or in the course of transport or during use. Thus, difficulty is found during assembly and, in an assembled condition, inconvenience is suffered because the tap cannot be prevented from coming loose and it must be assembled again by loosening a screw in order to use it again.
In particular, when a general user assembles it again, it tends to be so damaged as to be unusable.
The invention provides a device which makes the once assembled release lever unseparable through an improvement made on the pin support grooves of the release lever. The diameters of the pin support grooves are made greater than both pins of the release lever but their entrances are made narrow and flexible grooves are provided on both sides thereof so that the support ribs are not impaired when assembled for the first time.
The invention will now be described further by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Fig. 1 is an exploded view, partly in section, of part of a video tape cassette showing the release lever fixing device of the invention, Fig. 2 is a side view of the cassette shown in Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a side view of a cassette according to the prior art.
When the support grooves 5 which support both pins 4 of the release lever 3 are formed in the support ribs 2 for release lever on the bottom plate 1 of a video cassette, the upper parts of the support grooves 5 are made open by narrow entrances 6 but the diameters of the support grooves 5 are made greater than those of both pins 4 and the spaces of narrow entrances 6 are made smaller than the diameters of pins 4. On the other hand, flexible grooves 7 7', are provided on both sides thereof so that narrow entrances 6 may become wider. Numeral 8 is the upper plate of a video cassette, 9 is a rib formed in the upper plate and comes into direct contact with the said support rib 2 and 10 is a stroke bar set up on the deck.
When the release lever 3 is assembled in the support rib 2 for the present release lever, the space of the narrow entrance 6 open in the upper part of the support groove 5 is made narrower than the pin 4 of the release lever 3 but it can become wider by means of flexible grooves 7 7' formed on both sides thereof So, as shown in Fig. 2, forcible insertion is possible.
Once the pin 4 of the release lever 3 is inserted into the support groove 5 it is made not to come off freely even to the side of the narrow entrance 6. Consequently, the complexity caused by the frequency of separation during assembly work can be relieved and, at the same time, mistakes made in assembly work are reducible.
Meanwhile, even if a shock is given to it in assembled condition, it is free from coming off unless the release lever 3 is forcibly disassembled or the support rib 2 is destroyed. Thus, product reliability will grow all the more.
As the support groove 5 which supports the pin 4 of the release lever 3 is greater than the diameter of pin 4 and it turns around easily, it locks a reel and releases it from locking smoothly with its both ends interlocked with a stroke bar 10 or a reel lock which is not illustrated.
As described hereinabove, the present invention is an effective device which makes assembly work convenient and contributes to the improvement of product reliability because it not only assembles the release lever easily but also prevents it from natural separation after assembly.
